I wouldn't mind a TEMPORARY gas tax to help pay for this mess. It's is really going to hard on these peeps as they leave the shelters and may have no place to live or work. Many folks have lost everything; that is really hard to swallow.

Do you seriously think any fucking tax increase would be temporary?

Just what the fuck are you smoking?

edit: Maybe instead of some foreign aid going to a country that....hates us....we send it to help these people.

Mexico offered aid, Fee hasn't decided whether to accept it or not.

I would like to see the money that we send to countries that hate us redirected to this. You can't help other people if you can't help ourselves

edit

anything coming from outside of Texas should be considered foreign aid, as it is.

You going to do that for every disaster? What is the threshold? When does it end.

Sometimes it sucks to live somewhere. Hurricanes have torn up NC before. Tornadoes regularly drill Kansas. It sucks but when did we start expecting the govt to fix everything?

If people losing everything bothers you- donate. Time, money, your yard for them to live in.

And I'd venture to guess that that tax that is collected isn't even spent on what it was created for.

While the Canadian Government is giving billions away to the middle east as well, us lowly citizens are sending cash to Texas relief organizations.

Unfortunately, the Red Cross will guzzle down most of that aid money, like usual, and provide very little on the ground services and support, like usual. I have no idea why folks support that organization. I think they helped about 3 people in Fort Mac out of the 80,000 displaced despite receiving hundreds of millions of dollars. If that cash was just split up and given to all the citizens, it would have done us all a lot more good. Even if it was only a couple hundred per person.

Where are all the Texas flag filters for people's book of faces profile pics? That's the only way to show real support.
