So, that's called a parody. It's a fun way to pay respect to a show I watch, pay for and clearly, you do as well. It is 100% legal and in many cases encouraged. I thought it would be fun.

I have no neckbeard. I'm pretty sure to qualify for that phrase you need to be a millennial or under 30. I am way over in both cases, I just look that goddamned good.

O, I C.

I didn't realize you had the express written permission to use their original content to add some flair to your own show.

a parody would be you making your own and filming it in similar style, not directly borrowing their images.

i'm not legal or anything, but if somebody else were profiting off your work without your knowledge or permission it would kind of suck, no?

I think you need to rewatch it. I have a few seconds, in the beginning, to give the viewer an understanding of what I was spoofing. YouTube generally allows around 4 seconds or so of this. I even have the obligatory needle/drop scratch. I didn't steal huge swaths of content or download/upload entire videos. It is a grey area I admit, But I made damn sure I only dipped my toe into it. I spend a lot of time and research making my videos. Accusations like that are a bummer when somebody really is doing things above the table, good sir.

Starts off humble and not too serious.

I have a Ford F-350. It is terrific, no suspension mods, noting scary done to it. It IS too big for my neighborhood however so I wanted something smaller and kinda fun and silly for doing grocery and school runs. SO I bought a cheap-o minivan and made it into a bit of a #battlevan.

In an attempt to gain www cred, claims a Ford one ton pickup of unknown vintage and configuration. Yahoo, there's only been hundreds of thousands of those built in the last 40 or so years, so congratulations you belong to an elite and sophisticated club.

Anyhow, long story long, I did a bottom strut lift to get the front end high enough to fit the 31" tires. I've read a lot of posts on Subaru forums where people do this to gain height. In a nutshell they unbolt the steering knuckle from the strut, drop the top mount to the bottom hole, and reinforce the entire thing with thick new brackets. Note, in the final version I do have a heavy sleeve in the top bolt to prevent the bracket from crushing. This was just a mockup.

Is this crazy ghetto fab or reasonable if the steel is thick and bolted in tight?

(puts on fire suit)

Oh and relax people. It's just a toy car to bomb around the neighborhood in.
Then puts on fire suit, but tells people not to flame. Confusing at best.

Are you a lumberjack?

hell, if you were in China you could rip off the whole episode and nobody would care iffn you are really trying to be above the table and making it on your own, why even have it? why not just toss your own 3 second montage of whatever random DIY stuff you've done?

surely it wouldn't be difficult and then you could avoid the whole gray area.

Why 2 accounts? @diyMATT and @#diyMATT? Easy way to get tossed. #banurvan.

I bought the truck with the intent on hauling vintage machines to my place and restoring them, which I do. I have a shop, I build things, I fix things, I do things with my hands when I am not behind a keyboard for my day job.
I grew up in the country but I am somewhat city bound due to the school we want our step-son to attend.
In the coming years, I plan on doing more cross country driving with a travel trailer so the truck will be perfect for that. I have some experience with gas engines, but not diesel so I thought it would be fun to wrench on something new. From time to time I will haul a car to flip or repair.

I mentioned it because to be frank, I wanted to make it clear I wasn't some dingleberry who drove a Subaru Forrester for 24 years and moved onto souping up a van and was desperate for attention. I just thought you guys might think it was neat.

Surmise what you will out of it all, but I came here to ask a few basic questions that my lurking did not resolve.

I do enjoy my faggot tree pic however. That's a keeper.

It was a mistake. I believe I made the first one with the intent of posting and got distracted and forgot. Feel free to delete the one I am not using.

It was a judgment call, and I see your point. It's not something I make a habit of, it was a one-off thing.
