If you parachute in, it's free too.

I HIGHLY doubt this. People would have their friends who are qualified bringing them in all the time. I want some hard evidence it's free because I'll have a friend drop in with me and another fly in to pick me up if I get to spend a day there free.

On a side note, I have never seen detailed pictures of some of the contraptions. Are they mostly ghetto fab or actually well built?
Due to this thread I just streamed a documentary on it called "Burning Man: A Journey Through the Playa". I believe it was from 2015, so somewhat recent.

I had first heard of BM in the early 1990's and was sorta intrigued by it. After this documentary, it's not something I am likely to attend. I'm no artist but most of the creations and cars looked pretty damn cool I for sure couldn't be in a crowd that close for several days. Maybe it was just the people they chose to interview but they really seemed to be trying too hard to be or fit into the image of a burner, to the point of appearing hollywood fake ETA: The older Burners seemed more of what I might picture as a "Burner", but there seemed to be a lot of younger frat/sorority types trying to be radical. JMO

The #1 principle of Burning Man was radical inclusion. I get the feeling that if someone wore a MAGA hat like was suggested earlier, that rule might not apply to them.

You should try it.

In fact, I'll loan you mine. It's mesh for light weight.

the only person I know that ever went was my sister, she used the money that my mom and aunt gave her to get an apt and move out of their house because they were tired of her shit, she was gone for a week then called crying to everyone that she was homeless. I come from a family of really caring bleeding heart liberals with spare bedrooms, they all turned her away. From my samples, 100% of burners are deadbeats. ymmv

So she was a product of her liberal environment?

And I agree with your last point .

not true.
first there are jump requirements verified by current logs to show you have had minimum 150 jumps to land outside the 'city' and over 200 to land in the city n designated areas.
you will also need all your own gear, a ticket to burning man and usual expected supplies that all are expected to bring to burning man.

my nephew, a doc, has gone 5 times to burning man and jumped once into the city.

I know a lot of people that go and they all say the same thing about the frat/sorority types. There's also a big uprising right now about the luxury camps that the ultra rich people have setup, they fly in for the week (theres a temp airport setup on the playa) and then fly out. And of course they don't let anyone into their camp.

Nice deflection. Can you answer the question then? Otherwise you come across as hypocritical.

I'll answer your though: No, but there are a few.

I'm going to guess it's been at least 5 years they've not allowed people skydiving to come in for free. They're charging $400 just to camp with them...which seems to be a familiar number associated with entrance to burning man. A quick search shows it was $350 three years ago...which also seems to be a familiar number associated with entrance.

Interesting rant about how "it's changed" mentality is coming out of burning man in 2007. Apparently it upsets people if you don't dress like a weirdo. So accepting of others unlike yourself.

Amazing what a little different perspective can do.

I'd like to see it, but I have many more ways I'd rather spend a weeks vacation and a couple grand. And other than the trash issue, I could give a flying fuck who goes or what they do to themselves. Even that Burny guy. (Other than the danger posed to responders, as noted).

MASSIVE lines this year. Wind storms shut down the opening yesterday and then opened it a little later. The indian reservation most drive through to get there was making people mad because they were pulling burners over and giving them tickets for 3mph over the limit.

I thought SOMEONE here said they knew someone who had the GPS coordinates/time for when Google flies over and they created a new word in the desert annually.

So I just looked at it on google earth. I don't understand how they charge you to get in. Don't see how they could fence it being so big. Must be a thousand places you could drive into that desert.
