Climb-khana

Next of the Block video's.

Should certainly look familiar to RRToys, Rugger, Daddytall and a few others on the board. I am biased because I love that damn mountain, but this is one of the better Block productions. He cuts it close in a couple spots, and production took a lot longer than expected because he ran out of motors during the first couple of shoots

Would be interesting to see what that car would do on a timed run with a driver who knows the hill

Ken Block drifts Pikes Peak

that would be a good comparison between drifting and full traction driving. He should run it for each both ways in that car and see which is faster in those conditions.

I'm bummed. When I heard about this I thought he was going to do an actual timed run. I'm kind of losing interest in watching him do donuts. I'm sure that car would be fast.

I also had some disappointment after the first deviation from the course. He needs to get on an air craft carrier next.

I agree 100%. I wish he would see how fast he can go up the road instead. Would be way more fun to watch than him spinning donuts.

It was cool to watch. I agree though, a timed run would have been cool to see. I'm pretty sure Block was shooting for a similar video to this:

That was badass! The part where the Ranger checked his brakes was hilarious.
For those that haven't made a drive to the top of Pikes Peak, the Ranger stops everyone halfway down to make sure they haven't smoked their brakes.
I asked what the highest temps they have seen, he said they get some over 1000*
I shoot for a low score and have a best of 125*

For tourists or just racers?
I have been up a few times as a tourist and for work, and I have never had them do that.

Meh. I kinda agree with Frank. He needs to come up with something new.

That driving style does take a lot of talent, but seems pretty useless unless your filming some movie chase seen.

One of my car chiefs worked safety for some of the filming. I believe he said more than 2 in the first bunch of filming alone. And a few turbos as well. Admittedly PP is far from an easy place on motors especially something as high strung as the one in the Mustang. Just getting it to run properly at 9 - 14 thousand feet is a challenge. Drifting and filming might be harder on the motor than a pure race run

I was on the mountain when Loeb broke the record and I seriously doubt a privateer will ever break the record. It is going to take a manufacturer who is prepared to repave the top section and put forth a better effort than Peugeot with a driver better than Loeb. All respect to Block but to be quick on the mountain you need years of experience. Loeb was a special case.

Tourist.

It's funny, because when we practice for the race and come down the hill with trailers, they don't temp us.

Ror. Ken and I have talked a little bit. Need to get serious with shim and see what's going on. As for me racing, I can wait another year, no rush. You know I'm better behind the wrenches anyways.

I actually saw an old boy in his truck that had melted the plastic hubcaps off-he was pissed they made him wait to cool down.

Both of the drivers I advised this past year have been cursing me recently, I warned them that PP as a rookie is similar to a drug dealer handing out free samples of heroin. Both are already planning for '18, and it is all about bigger motors, turbo's, and more rubber on the road.

I just giggle to myself.

If all goes to plan I will be a consultant for Porsche next year as they are planning on a GT4 class for the Gaymans. You know just to give their customers a taste of what the mountain is like. I sense a whole new load of addicts in the future

Same, anyone can do donuts. Can he beat Loeb's record though? THAT'S what I want to watch.

But would Block's mustang be classed in the "Vintage" class and beat Ralf Christensson's '67 GT350 mustang @10:46

OR

Would the mustang be classified as Unlimited? Then he would have to beat Loeb's 8:13 record
