Dealing with price errors.. Pissed rant

Found a smoking deal. Very clearly outlined. Ordered, confirmed. Next day. Phone call, "you can pay full price or we'll cancel the order".

I was polite, but obviously frustrated/ pissed. I asked if they would do anything " that's already our cost". I asked if we could meet in the middle, nope. Not even free shipping, lol.

Fawking irritated. Yes people make mistakes, but this wasn't some glitch.

The freaking ad said "buy 3 slides get 40% off"!

I was stoked I'm a hobby machinist and was going to do custom Glock slides for me and my kids. Been hunting for slides and jumped on this deal. Already have a poly80 940cv2 done and waiting and was going to order two more. Was stoked to fire up Mastercam and start designing something cool!

Full price is still decent, may eat crow and order anyway.

Unless it happens often and is done as clickbait, you'll need to get over it.

Uh, no. That is not how consumer protection laws work. What they have done is a clear case of bait and switch.

OP, call them on it if you have screen shots the price, the email conformation of the price, and shots of the page setup.

I quick call to the DA for that county/state if they don't honor it can be helpful as you may not be the only one they are pulling this crap on. Fucking retailers trying to get one over on consumers just because they think they can, piss me off.

I say fuck em, they should have eaten it and fixed it. They have the right to refund you, but you also have the right to go elsewhere.

That situation is a not a bait and switch, dont be stupid.

A bait and switch is "buy something, and receive a different item in place of what was supposed to be delivered that is of lesser value".

OP's situation is "try to buy something, seller cancels deals because the ad was in error".

Yeah, I emailed them a polite letter.

I get misprints and glitches. This wasn't one of those.

I would have been happy to have them offer one out of 3 at the advertised price. I lose $100 and they lose $50. Hell they could have done a 100 small things instead of telling me to pound sand. I'm not an unreasonable guy.

Where did you see this add? 40% seems a a steep discount regardless. Not that i wouldnt jump on it as well. I just wouldnt have been surprised if they canceled the order.

Didnt we all learn our lesson from the pitbull tire thread?

You ask a lot

As a business owner I would have honored the order, especially since they said it's at cost and they're not actually losing money. Fix the issue, suck it up, move on. Not that they care though.. Looks like they already made another sale from this thread

Now see, that right there is what you should do. Be a stand up business owner, and take it on the chin for the mistake.

Guys like you, would get my return business even if your price was +10% than everyone else. For the sole reason that I would know things would get taken care of if something went wrong.

Pit bull refunded everyone, then proceeded to fill the orders as they could. Big difference between that and telling everyone to fuck off.

Bait and Switch - noun

the action (generally illegal) of advertising goods that are an apparent bargain, with the intention of substituting inferior or more expensive goods.

Help you out there because you seem to have not understood the definition of the words bait and switch.

They advertised a price for the goods, then want to switch it up with ones that are more expensive(despite being the SAME item), pretty much textbook bait and switch.

Yah but they didnt substitute anything. They called, noted the error and offered to refund his money. Thats not bait and switch since nothing shipped.

You are saying "Hey! You made an error and now you MUST sell me your product for less than your cost or ill call the mean government on you!"

didnt know we had so many socialists on this board.

When currie fucked up and priced the rocjoc centers for .o1 ea and ever one ordered 100 of them should they be forced to produce 50,000 center for $500?

Orders went through. Confermations and everything.

Its your choice to be a whiney cunt, it was a fuck up and they shouldnt give you a price break on anything over it.

Keep an eye on it, see how long it stays the same incorrect price. Then bitch they are switching $$

Accountability

"Hey I made a mistake, what can I do to make it right."

vs

"Hey I made a mistake pay me $150 more."

Well I would say that is a painfully obvious fuck up. Anyone who expected to receive one at that price is pretty dumb.

Really shitty of them not to either honor the deal (best case scenario) or at least offer you some type of meet in the middle deal. To just tell you full price or go fuck yourself, well fuck them.

cave ergo venditor

Its known as PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY dip shit. They fucked up, they posted the price, they let the sale happen only to call and say "oh, we made a mistake, you owe us more money!"

But hey I get it, personal integrity is something that happens to others right?

Who has ever had a 4% off sale?

I'm definitely not wound up about it, I would do exactly what you said. I was just making a point to the people trying to defend them for making a typo.

Almost every site has fine print stating that they are not responsible for typos, misprints and mispriced items.
