Ford Courier 4x4 wanted

Greetings members of Pirate 4x4!! I am looking for a Ford Courier 4x4, one of the earlier ones "IF" possible to restore. So far, the Pacific Northwest is where I keep finding them and.....I live in North Florida. Yeah, I know, at the other end of the country.....anyhow......I am still searching for one. I used to own a 1972 Ford Courier, 2 WD, 1.8 and drove it for 19 years!!! One HECK of a truck, used it to pull stumps out of our yard in Tallahassee 30 years ago!! Anyhow, if someone out there does have a Ford Courier 4WD for sale, please let me know. I know about the ATV company that retrofitted them to 4WD. Oh, and I have thought about just building my own 4WD from a 2WD Courier. I could use the parts list........I know it's a long shot. I was Master Certified through ASE for 20 years so building one would be an option to help occupy my time. Thanks for a GREAT website!!!!!!!!! :-)

that said, I could hook up the OP with a Courier, but I have no idea why the fuck he’d want one.

Pm and I’ll see if the homeless dude wants to sell it.

Original conversions are cobbled together with shitty Jeep parts. You are better off finding a clean 2wd and swapping in newer parts.

Why?

Unless you have one kicking around that you for for free I don't see the point in having a stripped down shit box.

My buddy had 4 when we were in highschool. He paid $50 apiece from the junkyard and drive them till he wrecked. Then he bought a another.

OP,

As others have said, the retrofit 4x4 conversions on Couriers was less than optimal. You should do this right to do it once.

I believe that the easiest is to swap the Courier body onto a Jeep XJ or MJ frame and swap in a 392 for >100% duty cycle.

Send a PM to PewPewXboxGreenBeret for the drivetrain specifics - he can explain the duty cycle off the top of his head.

I have seen about 10 of these and they have all been turds IMO. Seems like they use early CJ running gear which nothing about the parts are real good.

Definitely an XJ frame I think 93 was the best year...

I had one, it was fun for a year or two then it got to be a pain. Literally the most uncomfortable vehicle I’ve ever driven. I still have a bone chip somewhere in my left elbow from being slammed around in that piece of shit.

Listen to this guy, he's obviously well versed in these swaps and 392 x 1000!!!

There's a 2wd one sitting on the side of Raven Drive in Norman Wells NWT. The ice road is probably in now, so you better go get it while you can.

Need to get my rig out of the shop and get that fucking pos finished up. Would really rather work on my own shit though.... Got the front fenders on it yesterday.
