Yes. Micah and I made it official.

Radiation burn. Been keeping it moist, should we give it a chance to scab over?

Charge nurse was supposed to set up home health care visits, but evidently she dropped the ball.

The wife says keep it moist. Do not allow it to scab.

What dressing and what part of the body?

Is it draining?

do you know what superman died of?
bedsores.
a very rich man with the best care in the world and he died as thousands do of improper wound care.
the hospitals have failed at wound care and continue to fail.

i do laser therapy and one of my specialties is wound care.

i will let you know the biggest reason why wound care in modern medicine fails.
anything kept in a warm, dark and moist environment for greater than 4 hours creates the perfect petrie dish for bacterial growth and chronic infection eventually.

so dressings left on and not changed every 4 hours is bad advice.
dressings using neosporin, vaseline, etc is bad advice.

when i am in my clinic tommorow, i will give you proper advice on how to take care of it if you choose to go against the textbook thinkers.

you could try hyperbaric treatments, I am a diver and we use it for decompression sickness but there are people that use if for healing up bad wounds. You are basically doubling tissue growth thus healing faster.

What are you getting radiation burns from?
Gotta be an interesting side to that story, unless you just mean welding sunburn, I've had people try and use fearful buzzwords about the UV light being *zomg rady-ay-shun*

ETA: middle of the back, huh, not welding, then.

Get on the phone with Dr.’s office and tell them the charge nurse fucked up and you have an oozing radiation burn that’s untreated.

Good nutrition is core to healing a bead sore. No drinking, smoking, alcohol and leading a monks life is core to healing a nasty bed sore or wound.
Fuck... seriously consider maggots to remove dead tissue.

Peace and my prayers are for you. PM if you need to talk.

BTW: Frequent dressing changes.... Pack it loose and keep pressure off the wound.

Don't forget nutrition - lots of protein, no room for any junkfood - only high-nutrient food until it is healed. Often overlooked. Good wound centers use a nutritionist and meal plans especially for large wounds and bedsores.

Ha - got sidetracked before hitting post - and someone beat me to it!

My wife is a Physical Therapist and did a rotation in a wound clinic.
