A.) They will be hiring zero min. wage workers.

B.) Immigration issues are pretty much irrelevant at the state level, as long as you have some good Indian restaurants. .

Philadelphia (contender) wouldn't be a bad choice. LOTS of colleges in the area to draw from. Taxes are insane tho, but Amazon never pays retail (nor do any big companies) when it comes to local taxes. Most get all sorts of incentives to offset them.

There will be minimum wage jobs in support roles.

Nashville already has a huge Amazon fulfillment center off 840. Plenty of room out there for their headquarters. Bring it on I say.

Denver is in the top 20. Not caring myself. I finally got them to accept an address that works for all deliveries so whatever.

Don’t worry.... wherever it ends up you local and state governments will sell your soul in tax breaks and other “incentives “ to get it... all at the expense of the tax payers...

Just like Nevada did for the Panasonic/Tesla gigafactory here... promised $25 median pay jobs .... I have yet to see one unless your an engineer....

Red state
Low taxes
Low cost of living

Probabaly build it near all
The new movie studios south of town in Fayette county

And it's an absolute cluster fuck of a company. I haven't met one person that works out there that says they love it. I've had a couple coworkers that quit and went there and didn't stay 6 months.

I really hope not. This state has exploded compared to what it was when I was a kid.

Dallas and most of the metro areas are already blue though, and those areas have been seeing blue influx for a long time now.

I really, really hope they don't choose San Marcos. Austin is already ruining that town.

Based on what it's done with it's current "neighborhood" HQ, I'm not sure I want to see it in Nashville. It can turn a place into the next Detroit real quick.

Exactly. I'd be thrilled to NOT be picked.

Yeah I have heard the same....they have some of the strangest work schedules.... no matter what..... everyone works one weekend day/night!

Don't think for a second that beyond the tax breaks (they'll see forever) they didn't pick this state because its a right to work state and unions don't even try to get put on here anymore.....

lol. Companies bringing in employees into a state, changing the state's voting, causing the same policies that said company moved there to avoid. That's classic.

In a like situation here....its driven up prices of houses and rentals like crazy.... it will be good for me when I retire ,sell my house for 5x what I paid for it and move away....

The negative being the poor people here cant afford to live here anymore....not sure if there are more homeless because I don't go looking for them.... but I assume it doesn't help that situation.

The poor people couldn't afford to live here before Tesla/Amazon/Panasonic came within driving distance of Reno. People just refuse to accept they can't stay in town when they're out priced. Bring in better paying jobs or people who can afford to live here and prices will go up.

Nashville sounds interesting. I think UPS is centered there. I can't remember the last time there was a natural disaster on the news about Nashville and if it's driving distance to that many cities it may make the short list. I don't think California or New York will make it because the cost of living, and doing business, is too high.

One Elon Musk sized salary can raise the median wage of a few thousand min. Wage workers to $25 an hour.

Just sayin’.

Fedex is in Memphis. UPS is Atlanta. The cost of living here is already through the roof compared to the rest of the SE...no it's not NY or CA but it's already pushing people out.

Unfortunately I agree. It's the 'hip' place to be for some reason. However they will change their tune(pun intended) when they see the devastation that Amazon brings with their relentless property purchasing and dictation to how tenants operate businesses in those properties.

edit: One thing I've found odd from their hiring practices, is that they want to contact your current employer Before they'll even give you a job offer. No thanks.

It's been all over the Atlanta news for a while now. Bigger than getting the Olympics was. They have built a ton of warehouses down in South Atlanta due to proximity of the airport.

Nashville is the hip answer right now. That place is booming. Was up there talking to a local, they already hate it, only gonna get worse if amazon goes there.

I tend to agree this must have been how they did the math..... though every doucher in this town was all buzzing about how..." As soon as Tesla opens Im gonna quit my job and go work out there....and get $25hr to assemble batteries" Its literally like an amazon $15hr job for most people that work there....

Smoke and Mirrors.....
