This is exactly what they want. Actually, they want more, but this is a good start as far as they're concerned.

Hence the reason I asked clarifying questions. Maybe you should re-read my post.

No, the exact opposite.

Edit: I've supported him up to now, but continuing support is contingent on how he handles this...

They’re going to keep quiet and let him dig his own grave.

Two possibilities. 1) Exactly that. Or 2) show support for it to encourage the dems to add it to a bill, that once passed, will prove unconstitutional, and he can wash his hands of it and we go back to the way things have always been, until the next mass shooting with an AR15.

I can guarantee you that "2" is NOT an option for MANY of us! Betting on the SC to hear the case, not even mentioning the timeframe for something like that to happen, is a very poor strategy. I would imagine that IF he continues on his current course he will lose 50% of his base instantly...he will most certainly lose me and virtually every one I know. As I've stated, if he stays on his current course regarding the 2A and due process he will not even be in the top 2 in a 2020 election. .02

#2, I call bullshit.

There is no way someone who is as egotistical as him is going to sign his name to a law knowing that it will get overturned constitutionally.

The Trumptards in my feed are all saying "You just don't understand. He's only talking about the crazy people. You're taking what he said out of context."

That’s an excellent way to make sure republicans lose congress

sounds like the Senate just said any gun votes are dead and will not be voted on. Fine to open debate and lead the other side on but 'Take the Guns First' was the exactly worst thing to say and not acceptable.

Does anyone think any of the other "republicans" that ran would be taking a stronger stance against new gun control? All the options were hot garbage, and would probably be doing something similar to Trump. I regretfully voted for him, he starts passing gun laws, I won't again.

Rand Paul prolly wouldn't have caved.

Watch the video of the gun discussion... Diane Feinstein looked like she just won the fawkin lottery... contemptuous bitch.

Rand Paul is a republican who made it reasonably far in the primaries.

currently opposes gun control regulation

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/...ol-push-422540

Quote:
The narrow bill, which would encourage states and federal agencies to send more information to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System, is already opposed by three Senate Republicans as written: Mike Lee of Utah, John Kennedy of Louisiana and Rand Paul of Kentucky. And the Gun Owners Association, which is more hard-line than the NRA, also opposes it.
also, win for the GOA

That Trump behaves like a New York progressive when he's left to his own devices should not surprise anyone. That's what he's been all his life.

Based on the last year, it looked like Trump could be steered in the right direction IF his base held his feet to the fire. I am glad to see a reaction to his disgraceful actions from yesterday (although much of the MAGA MAGA crowd is strangely silent), but this is not the first time he's moved into Obama-land.

I had been pleasantly surprised with his administration's policies since Kelly stepped in and was able to tone down the madness in the White House. I said here several times that this administration had been the most conservative in decades. But certain recent things really bothered me:

- Obama-sized federal budget and yearly deficit (Hint - that pen can be used to veto budgets too)
- 1.5 trillion dollar infrastructure stimulus he announced he wanted
- Path to citizenship to 1.8 million illegals as part of his proposal (no, I don't think he was playing 4-D chess)

These are all things most people in the MAGA MAGA threads hated when Obama did similar things, but most of the same people remained quiet or made excuses when they came from Trump. As long as this keeps happening, Trump will continue to regale us with "take the guns first and due process later" or

"So if you can add that to this bill, that would be great. Dianne (Feinstein), if you could add what you have also and I think you can into the bill".

Not sure I have any issue with the infrastructure. It's not getting cheaper to repair and unsure what other options are there.

Finally gave in tonite and got an M&P 15. Between all this national discussion and the possibility trump might cave along with illinois crazy, its time.
At least I had to get one before they were sold out and the price was jacked when something solid happens.

Think of the “conservative” candidates we’ve had since bush!!
I voted for Trump because he wasn’t a career politician! Saying, “ I’m gonna drain the swamp”!!
(Ends up being just another egomaniac)
Our government has zero leadership and no one on the horizon to change that!
It’s gonna take a revolution to get true leadership back in control. Only way that happens is a huge catastrophe. IMO.
I’m on the sideline till people get serious!!!

If you haven't taken the time to contact the white house and your state representatives do so, make it very clear to them that this sort of crap will not stand. Be polite yet firm.

The Goa has contact information for your representatives. Just put in your zip code on the right hand side of the screen and it will give you their contact information.

https://cqrcengage.com/gunowners/home?0

Flood their switchboards and they may get the point.
