Coolidge’s speech on the 150th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence was incredible. Wish we would see (hear) stuff like that today.

I'd settle for the presidents speech from independence day.

WHat you are seeking to do would be easy to implement with AI. You simply define the twitter feed of Peter Fonda as the baseline, and sort folks from there.

Call it The Peter Meter.

Is that what they're investigating?

Calvin Coolidge stubbornly held on to his principles, even as proof that they were wrong. without Keynesian economics and a muscular social security system (in the broadest sense of the term). You'd be living like a serf in Microsoft's basement.

My second job interview, at the ripe young age of 18, was at a job shop for cranking out technical art. The art director I worked for was a transvestite and interviewed me in a sequin dress with high heels.

True story.

I got the job, but was always wary when I entered the darkroom.

I seen way too much by the time I was 21, between that and the Amyl Nitrate that was freely distributed on the shop floor ~2AM.

Have you studied much about the post WWI economy? You’re completely wrong.

As a Independent moderate myself, we didn't push or vote Socialist.

So, what possible platform can a Socialist push that appeals to LEGAL citizens?
Jobs? Yea, a HUGE shortage of that right now.
Free I-phones? Nope I socialize face to face.

This is how economic crisis were dealt with in this country before progressivism and keynesianism became the norm. And why the first "great depression" happened right after those principles were abandoned.

These days, if progressivism doesn't work, surely it is because not enough progressivism was applied... And we end up with eight year recoveries that double the national debt, like Obama's.

Exactly why I brought up the post WWI economy. Larger stock market crash than the great depression.

I used to think that the moment the stock market crashed in 1929, it was the great depression all of the sudden.

In reality, for a whole year after the crash, unemployment remained under 10% (would reach 25% in 1933). There was nothing special about that economic slowdown... Until Hoover and then FDR decided THEY could fix the economy using the might of the federal government.

Contrary to what we've always been told, Hoover was was not a laissez faire president, he was a progressive and did many of the same things FDR would do years later, just on a smaller scale.

It was the same as Bush and Obama 80 years later. Neither was a limited government president. Small government principles were never applied, yet they got the blame for the mess progressives created

Don't forget FDR's hypocrisy campaigning on reducing government to better deal with the great depression and preaching that Hoover was selling the US to socialism, then once elected reversing his stance and going the other way 10 fold.

Don't get me started on how the historically increased manipulation/involvement from the federal reserve influenced the great depression either.

Yup. FDR ran in 1932 as the thrifty, smaller government alternative to Hoover

Yes, they contracted monetary supply during the depression, making things even worse.

How else were they supposed to get more government?
