I am about 30 miles south of Kadoka SD, which is 90 miles east of Rapid City. Holler if you need anything.

Not too far west of Rapid City take Hwy14 & Hwy24 off I-90 and visit the Devil's Tower.

Well.... We are in Sioux City IA.

I forgot how much I hated these frameless windows. The adjustment is such a pain in the ass and I really need to adjust the passengers door window.

The noise from the windows is actually the most annoying thing about this trip.

Also, kinda disappointed in the Classic Auto Air AC I installed... driving today, 93 ambient, doing 70MPH, it was unable to keep the car below 82 degrees.

Full charge is supposed to be 24oz of R134a, and that is what I installed with dye, and there are no indications of any leaks.

Dynamat on everything, factory insulation over that, then carpet over that.

Roof has combo thermal/sound insulation.

Anyway, it was sweaty sitting on the west side of the car headed north.

R&P is noisy, but that may just be age and me. The pinion seal was leaking, so when I replaced it I may have given it an extra ugga-dugga with the impact gun and squeezed the crush sleeve a bit more than it wanted.... or the 129K on the car is the issue...

The exhaust is not bad... a bit droney at 50, but almost silent at 70... and still quiet at 80... the dynomax's are OK... thinking about magnaflows to kill the drone.

Anyway, 1,222 miles in 1.75 days of driving (441 miles yesterday)... 1607 to go....

Funny you mentioned Dirt Fish... I was looking at it on my phone while he was driving...

And it WAS a beater... not no more.. Pics are on the other computer so I will have to add them later...

And yes, he is off Guam and off to a new duty station. Thanks for your time with him!

Dirtfish is cool. Old Weyerhauser mill that is now a rally school. I bought the old mill air compressor from someone who works there this last spring.

I'm just starting to make plans to go to either Dirt Fish or Team O'Neil in Maine. Rally driving fascinates me.

Is it possible you're getting some heat out of the heater core while driving? I don't know Fords, but you might try to bypass the heater core to see if it makes any difference.

I have sub 40 degree air temps coming out of the vents, and the core is in-line with the evap, so I don't think that is it.

It also has a hot water valve that should be preventing HOT water from entering the core.

I could be wrong... this is my first rodeo with Classic Auto Air.

Is it an air volume thing? 40 degrees coming out it about the best you can hope for, but hopefully on high fan?

Team O'Neil is a fucking blast. Guys are super cool- mostly ski bums in winter and rally bums in summer as near as I can tell- and they can flat out drive. Terrain is awesome, vehicle selection is great. Dooo eeeet.
ps - it's in NH

FAAAAWWWKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So we stop in Rapid City SD to see my son's great Uncle John....

Things are great until we go to leave.. then there are no brakes.

Do a little diagnosing and the booster is bad... Call the parts stores and the one I have (Midland) is $450 and I can't get one until Thursday!!!!!

FAAAWWWKKKKKK,

But they have a Bendix booster in stock so I pick it up to see what it will take to clusterfuck this piece of shit into working...

Looks like a nice piece of 5/4 oak properly drilled out will make it work... but then I have to decide if I want to leave my clusterfuckery for my kid to unfuck.

So we sat down and came up with plans A, B and C.

A. Order the Midland from a local parts house who won't rape me for overnight shipping from CA or Memphis

B. Go to Sturgis where there is a Mustang rally and:
1. hope some vendor has a kit that adapts the Bendix to my car
2. Hope they have the Midland with them and buy one there.
C. Go to Menards and buy some oak and hope for the best.

Anyway, it looks like I will get to enjoy a day in Rapid City SD... with my Ex-wifes family... and a broken car... and parts that may never show up.

FML

Sturgis Mustang Rally for sure! You might get lucky. If you don't you still have the other two options.

So we changed plans.

For those that wonder, this is what I need: https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.co...tml?attribs=88

It is what is needed to install the Bendix booster in a car that has a Midland-Ross booster.

The rod length from the pedal to the booster is longer with the bendix booster, so this mount is required to make it fit.

This route will put my son in a better position in the future if the booster goes bad as it will allow him to use the cheaper unit. ($110 v $450)

I went to Sturgis, it was a bust.. no vendors, no parts corral, nothing of value in this situation.

Called every junkyard, got lied to () and finally found a Mustang, but it was manual brakes.

Called West Coast Classic Cougars and they could get the part out to me overnighted. Shipping was more than the part.

The part linked above SHOULD get me on the road and will be delivered tomorrow at 10:30 by UPS's tracking app.

Anyway, today went to Sturgis (sleepy little town without the Rallys), saw Rushmore, then around to Hill City for a beverage. My son decided he liked the 'Moose Drool' beer he tried...

Still in SD, bstill at the outlaws, but they are treating us better than I had the right to expect. Hopefully we can do something nice for them in return.

Anyone know how to get a case of Red Horse delivered?

I am exhausted.. . And tomorrow the work comes early...
