the difference between buying 1 ticket and 1000 tickets is (1 in 258.9 million) and (1 in 258,900). That is a huge difference.

I bought $20 of mega and $10 of powerball. Had some cash in my wallet from a side job I did last weekend.

Why not.

Actually they changed the amount of balls and now its 1:302 million, but buying more tickets doesn't change your overall odds of winning that much. Sure it changes the odds, but its still so unlikely you'll win that buying 10,000 tickets makes zero difference as opposed to buying 1. Something like 80% of all possible combinations was bought last time, and still no one won...

We covered this is in my stats class last year, the numbers do change when you buy more, but you still have almost zero chance of winning lol

10,000 tickets = .00003311258 chance of winning

1 ticket = .0000000003311258 chance of winning

Those are both some pretty shitty numbers

This. When it gets this big, its definitely worth throwing a couple of bucks on it but nothing more than that. You're almost certainly just throwing the money away so it it's enough to buy a beer you'd be better off just buying yourself a 🍺

I was at the Minit Mart today and the guy in front of me put down $60 on tickets. I thought that was a bit much but it got me to put in $8.

$8 for an infinitesimal chance at a billion, why not?

First time I've ever bought a MegaMillions ticket.

Kinda how I look at it, I can spring a $20 spot for a chance at $1,000,000,000. I drop that much on a case without thinking it over.

I look at it as fun. Yeah, it's about as dumb as jerking off a slot machine, but it's not a big deal. Of course I've probably only spent $30-$40 on this particular run and that's probably normal for me to do at least once a year, but I've wasted a lot more than that buying sketchy shit off Ebay or Craigslist that was probably just as big of a gamble, but less fun in the end.

Good luck to everyone playing, don't forget us poor bastards if you win.

I can say one thing, if I win I'm buying this damn site, getting it fixed, getting rid of tapatalk, mods get decent checks and newbies get called up randomly for battle royal.

No. It's over a billion now. Do you have any life savings to blow on some tickets to make up for previous drawings?

1.6 billion now. Should now be a lump sum take home of just over $500 million. That's a lot of "fuck you" money, lol.

I lost a dollar. Bought 5 tickets and won $9. I'll roll it into another 5 tickets for the next draw.

Step 1--Spend what it takes to buy the Draco bush plane.

Step 2--Learn to fly

Step 3--Think about building a hangar or something.
