Buying something expensive on amazon from 3rd party seller

I'm looking at spending about a grand on a Chinese tire machine that only has a few reviews, all 5 star, the sellers other items have good reviews, and seem to be happy with the equipment and seller, but at $1k, what is my recourse if my shit doesn't show up? Or shows up damaged/incomplete etc and seller goes ghost.

No credit card, debit only.

You can buy the chinese ones from CL here about that price and meet the person and hand them cash. Hell I even got shown how to run it and mounted/dismounted a tire several times when I bought it. Have you tried that?

PayPal? I see used tire mounters and balancers on C.L. fairly cheap often, may be a better option

No experience with Amazon, but I bought this one earlier this year and it's been great... Can do up to a 49" tire. It's gone up a little in price (free shipping, no tax), but it's close to your price point.

Check the sellers return policy. If it states you are responsible for return costs you may want to reconsider the purchase.

I'm weary of anything 3rd party with just a handful of reviews. Amazon's ratings don't really mean shit anymore and most Chinese companies have thousands of fake reviews now.

I was going to recommend Derek Weaver but I see another guy already did.

I have the exact model he posted - worth it.

On a separate note, if you're not using a CC, you're missing out on a ton of free shit you could be getting. Obviously you have the money if you're using a debit card, pay it off every month, 0% interest, earn CC rewards...you're literally throwing away money.

I bought a weatherguard tool box 3rd party on amazon because it was a good price. It showed up with a dent, lid that was out of square and the finish had been damaged. It was a nightmare to return as they wanted to make a deal and refund me some $ to keep the damaged toolbox. I have avoided third party since.

I get $250 Amazon gift cards every 3-5 months from my rewards card. It is just flat out STUPID not to take advantage of some of the deals you can get with a proper CC.

$500 costco, damn man, that is nuts.

That's the one I have also. Greg Smith does decent deals and they are about the same quality.

Auto parts sales guy plug!
Buy a brand name machine; at least you can get parts for it!
Even though this is straight Chinese it is supported by Coats Equipment. No I do not work for Coats but see enough Chiner machines in the field from my shop visits and all users are miserable.

You'll be doing favours for friends and family so might as well not make your life miserable.

Edit: get one with the secondary arm (robo arm). It will make your life way easier if you are doing 17-20"

A pirate detour for sure I froze my credit 6 years ago during a divorce, haven't had any reason to seek credit, maybe I'll consider it, but never having to worry about late fees is probably worth more than the rewards.

It's "mayflower equipment" I researched, they have like 3k 99% feedback on ebay, so I'm probably good to go

As far as name brand, this wasn't even on my radar until we bought a Chinese machine for our plant, and while I haven't had the chance to use it, I finger fucked it pretty good, good fit and finish, good weld quality etc.

I can probably save 500 year by having this, I'll spend 1k but not 2.5k

I have an old coats post machine I could probably sell for $350, this would take up half the space, the math starts working

I don't need the fancy robotic arms and shit, I used to bust tires and know the tricks

Amazon customer service will take care of you if there is a problem. Make sure to do ALL communication in writing through Amazon and document everything.

I bought from them through eBay. Easy dealings and both the balancer and mounting machine showed up fairly quick.

Good to know

I have a decent quality balancer that had been stored under less than ideal conditions, I scooped it up this week and checked it out to verify it was good before order the changer by itself, as the package price was pretty good.

my old asian lady neighbor, who likely spent some time interned, not only won't use a credit card but she won't use a debit card

cash or nothing, no need in trusting those damned computer systems. The peace of mind is worth it to her, but hell she was well set in her ways before credit cards become common.

so anyways, don't listen to these guys about their pennies a day savings; you can still roll like a rockstar without credit

I hope your spinny thingy works well

I really like the mounting machine. The balancer isn’t very impressive. I haven’t had too much time to mess with the calibrating though.

If you can't afford to lose $1,000 then don't do it.

plastic is fine.

its the women that cause the problems.

At least with the plastic I can track the issues and know what the damage is, with women, its not that easy
