No I don't. Potomac was near the p. Used to have grandfolks in Paradise, many years ago before the white trash moved in and methed up the whole area.

Gotcha.

Paradise is (was) actually pretty good. Magalia has gotten worse and worse over the years.

Anyone have any word on the area around Chucks place? My parents live right up Woodward. Nephews house is right down the road from the vallero.

Ya, that's pretty much what I've been hearing. I heard on the scanner that all the commercial buildings on Skyway from wagstaff down were on fire (basically all of paradise for those who don't know)

According to scanner, a 70yo man refusing to leave with imminent structure loss, on cabernet in paradise. Next to the fastrip and across from High Angle Driveline.

I haven't found anything clear. How has Magalia faired?

What was the start of this fire?

We hear about CA fires all the time but this one sounds absolutely nuts. I sincerely hope everyone else here and their families can get out, and the firefighters and responders stay safe. When we had the Bastrop fire in 2011, several California fire units showed up to assist. They are some of, if not the best there is, and this thing sounds unstoppable even for them right now.

Awesome to hear so many PBB members doing what they can to help. Greatest bunch of assholes on the internet.

The Santa Rosa fires, the carr fire and now this one have all been super intense and scary. Paradise is kinda fucked because it's on a ridge, so you either have to go up or down. Up wasn't an option because it all funnels into one road that was on fire. 1 of 3 main roads to go down was on fire which basically leaves 2 roads to get 30k+ people out at basically the same time.

It's a scenario I've heard growing up here the last 25 years. You know there is a good possibility that it could happen but somehow you think it never really will.

Damn. That sounds like a real shit situation, only made worse by normalcy bias and likely lack od preparedness. 30K people is like 250K when you inject surprise, panic, smoke, flames, and fear. Nevermind closed down roads.

Another big factor is there is a lot of elderly folks in the area. Average age is like 10-12 years above national average Iirc.

Also, most don't take the evacuations very seriously. We've had so many false alarms over the years, you just get numb to it. People think they have time to gather all thier shit or wait and see what happens.
