What about a grandpa fresh crown vic/grand marquis? It would make a great road car, plenty of room, and a big ass trunk. Throw on some snow tires and rock it.

We used to get them as rental cars for work when I lived in VA. They were surprisingly fun to drive. Especially since the paint scheme for our rentals made them look like VA state trooper cars. They have a ton of room, and are very comfortable.

No offense to any of the above masochists, but take every profanity laced VW tirade you've ever heard, then triple it for a Passat.

And I'm a VW fan.

09 up should fit them. I know our 06 would fit 3 full size adults without any issues. It's a bigger back seat than most full size sedans.

I'm not going to guarantee it, but you might do some research and find out. It's a fantastic car. Extremely reliable and cheap to operate. As far as utility goes, it's really difficult to beat one. Especially if your ego lets you get over the stigma.

Here's the first link from Google that lists which car seats will fit 3 wide in the various different models of Prius.

good luck finding one that isn't a complete piece of shit in his price range.

they are rare and clean ones command premium prices.

also, 3 car seats don't fit.
My brother is looking for an m sport x5 with a third row to replace his.

volvo wagons are dirt cheap, and many come with integrated booster seats.
05-07 xc70s with 100K miles can be had for 4 grand.
https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...9572/overview/

6 grand, has service records from volvo dealership indicating all maintenance done, including the timing belt at 100K.
it will get 24mpg on the highway, and it's bigger than an XJ.

well the insurance company replaced his e61 with an e60 after a toyota hit it in the side, but with three kids it's not big enough, and they share the same back seat.

Pure anger.

A newer F150 Crew is the best/easiest to move them around. Everything else blows.

My DD is a 3rd gen Prius (90mi/day, avg 40-45mpg).
Was wife's car when we only had 1 kid. We did 2 seats + adult in the rear for about a year when we had 2nd kid. Had one of those Diono Radian seats with and a rear facing Chicco and an adult could intimately fit in on the side, was pretty much like sitting 3 deep with adults.

If there's any car seats that may possibly fit 3 across in a compact car, it'd be these seats.

I have a '16 SCREW with 3.5TT and it gets close to 20mpg if I'm not digging into the fun pedal. The back seat is huge and comfortable.

I don't know how far back you would have to go to get in the price range we're talking though - for a beater DD.

Lexus LX470 will get you everything except the MPG. It's a landcruiser under the skin and will run forever. Probably only going to get 15-16mpg though.

Grand Marquis with two leather benches and the vinyl carpet from a cop car makes a great family vehicle.

V10 is an easy fit if you don't mind making the trans tunnel bigger.
