Facebook sucks in my area. You have 15,000 buy here pay here dealers listing cars for the down payment, and they won't tell you the total price as they only accept payments.

There are also a ton of dealers making their cars for sale look like private party.

Craigslist is actually a tad better as it isn't spammed so much.

this

its only for cars and truck so its not like you're selling that stuff all the time.. Its still free to post your stuffed animals and used shovels

Since the $5 fee has been in place, Iíve had way better luck with buying and selling on Craigslist. I think it simply chased all the cheap, lowball folks and only serious buyers and sellers remain. Very happy with the change.

You give me hope. I had a truck on cl that I was getting a ton of intrest in and then refused to pay the $5 when my add got "flagged" the day they started charging. I never put it back up out of spite but maybe I need to suck it up.

I was selling a fully built TJ prior to the $5 bs. Tons of interest, but every single person would flake and never show. I reposted a couple months later and paid the $5. I raised the price, and wrote that the price was firm and had 3 guys come and check on it within the first 2 weeks.

It took 1.5 months to sell, but all 3 of the guys kept in contact throughout. 1 was looking at other rigs, 1 was offshore fishing and the other was trying to come up with the cash he was missing. Iíve literally never had respectful buyers who were honest about their intentions and kept in weekly contact.

The guy looking at other rigs ended up with it. No games, no bs, no trying to offer less the day he arrived. I informed the other guys and they were genuinely good people about it.

Bought a rolled show truck with a huge straight axle lift last month. Guy told me about the other 2 guys interested, their situation and was completely honest and upfront with everything. I went and picked it up the following morning and he gave me their phone numbers because they had some interest in things I didnít want. I spoke with both and they came and purchased the large items they wanted. He actually helped me make money on his truck and he didnít mind.

I guess the point of my post is that I am now dealing with people on Craigslist like I USED to deal with here on Pbb. Upfront and honest people.

Iíve done at least 5 vehicle transactions on Craigslist since the $5 thing and this has been a common thing.

I always liked the deals (before the $5) because grandpa with that old Jeep like thing could figure out Craigslist and make a post, now with the $5 charge Grandpa won't give up his credit card to the scary internet.
I been reading local papers and flyers at the auto parts stores.

I also don’t have Facebook. So I miss out on seeing crap for sale. I just browse Craigslist for motorcycles, tractor implements, and the occasional truck search.

Facebook marketplace has a standalone app, seperate from Facebook, so you can utilize marketplace and avoid Facebook

Does it still send the text of every email, text message, and web form entry you type to facebook affiliates for ad targeting like all the other facebook apps?

Well yeah, it's not like they're going to make money off you otherwise.

Sold a couple of vehicles recently and begrudgingly paid the fees, Sold both from CL, in a couple of weeks. Turns out your ads stay relevant longer by not being buried with BS. Can no longer bump them without paying again.
