So the Plan: NH to LA, to San Jose, to Beaumont, fly home.

@Camarogenius ' daughter needs a car, so we're bringing her a YukonXL.

June 16th, the day after my son graduates high school, we load up.

CJ2 aluminum body, corvette cradles and suspension, steering column, etc. goes to @JR in LA.

Head to San Jose, get the M715 - be in Norcal around 21June.

8.1L engine, Allison 5 speed transmission sourced in TX, 2005 Super Duty front 60 with 4.30 gears, matching rear axle plus whatever else I can scrounge. Goes to Texas.

Leave the trailer and M715 with @Brimmstone

He's also getting SuperBeast and the Green Furd.

Fly home.

When both the M715 and Pinky are ready, fly back, run both Pinky and the M715 ragged.

Beaumont to LA, drive home.

Unless someone wants to fly here and take the drive for a good cause?

Is that the same cj2 body you were thinking of building this week?

Same type. We've had 5 of them. Bought one off the board here, liked them so much, bought more.

Suspension for the CJ2 project, known as "Pinky".

7th Generation Corvette cradles, suspension, etc. Camaro rear differential.

2015 L83 - will get a blower and a BTR cam... and a 8L90E that will be paddle shifted.

Weather depending, we may drive Pinky from LA to Beaumont... it's just 1600 miles... with no top.

Weather dependant

It's the southwest in the summer, there is no weather, just heat.

Keep us posted on the meat and greet, I might be able to buzz down there. My 6 year old loves the train museum too.

So it looks like this is the route:

https://goo.gl/maps/oZR9pfee14GRqiKq8

Heading to Rochester NY to re-pack, then Dayton Ohio for the Air Force Museum, then Beaumont @Brimmstone 's to drop weight, since I don't want to push the 1/2t Yukon too much.

Then to JR's to empty the trailer before picking up the M715, doing Old Sac/train museum, hitting old hang town, then heading back to Brimm's.

Trying to think of ways to prevent some fairly expensive shit from walking off the flat bed trailer needed to haul the M715 to Brimm's. I figure at least 6 nights along the way. Once in LA, expensive shit is offloaded.

Also interested in meeting people for non-romantic food and beverages along the way. This will not be a murder road trip. We plan to stop and see crap along the way.

Once the Yukon and M715 are with Brimm and CG's daughter, we'll fly out.

When @JR is done with Pinky, I will have it shipped to Brimm to get loaded onto my flat bed and hauled by the M715 home... not sure I want to make that drive in Pinky in the middle of the summer.

A convertible ride from CA to Texas in summer separates the men from the boys!

Expensive stuff being CJ2 aluminum body, corvette cradles and suspension, steering column, 8.1L engine, Allison 6 speed transmission, 2005 Super Duty front 60 with 4.30 gears and matching rear axle mentioned previously?
Flatbed trailer? If you are going to be out towards Rochester before then, I can get you plywood totes (like the ones below but in better condition):

One for each engine, one for the transmissions and no one will know whats inside.
You could also build a box on the front for the transmissions, cradles and engines (I would make it like a snowmobile trailer and have it slant up as it goes back, that would help with drag, prying eyes and keeping some of the road crud off of the CJ2 body if that is a concern).

Exactly.

I already own the flat bed.

We could also head west to you... happy to pay your for time re-packing the trailer into crates.

Edit - changed the mapping to do that:

https://goo.gl/maps/oZR9pfee14GRqiKq8

Then we can hit the Air Force Museum.

That might be possible, let me look at the calendar and I will PM you...
Would that be on Sunday the 16th or Monday the 17th?

Oh and the main point of all this:

@Camarogenius is still working for all of us. He's gone, but his family is still here. Allysa, his daughter needs a car.

So we're delivering this, the tow rig for this adventure:

Yeah, but the M715 will be more Ford than it was.

Fords are going to Brimm, best for him.

Check again, Saturday is the 15th, Sunday (Father's day) is the 16th on all four calendars that I just checked.

Saturday would be better than Sunday or Monday.
