No, 79-88 is first gen. Yeah the later models went to IFS and some had the 3.0, but that is generally considered 1st gen.

1st gen were all 2 doors, the 4 door version was the start of the 2nd gen (1990). Oh, and in before DC proclaims a fag-fight).

No.

For the pickups:
79-82 "1st Gen A, Round Lights. SFA"
82-84 "1st Gen B, Square Lights, SFA"
84-85 "2nd Gen, SFA"
86-89 "3rd Gen, IFS"
89-95 "4th Gen, IFS"

For the 4runners:
84-85 "1st Gen, SFA"
85-89 "2nd Gen, IFS"
89-95 "3rd Gen, IFS"

And for clarity, these designations are wrong anyways since the 1st gen Toyota pickup is really 68-72

i think you are confusing the 4runner and the pickup. the pickup is older and there are no 79 4runners

yeah but the 68-72 weren't offered factory 4wd so they don't count for shit also, it goes by the body style/fender and less by the suspension and lights. grills and lights and springs changed within model years.

Doh.

The first one I saw was in 1981 (Trekker), brought home from the dealership where a neighbor worked. I remember the back seat was leaned back at a 30* angle because there was no footwell. I mentioned it, and he made up some salesman BS about being able to "Kickback".

IFS/SA does not change the generation for the 1st gens.

Thank you. It was body style that delineated the separations.

I see built Looking rigs all waxed up with no scratches, in the fast lane all the time. Driving something that resembles an ultra4 rig is cool these days. Just one more reason why jeeps are homoghay

Like all of the bolt-on TRD Yotas running around CA? Driving something that resembles a vehicle to spend 4 weeks in the jungle.

We've got both here.

I own Jerry cans, a highlift jack and a shovel, but I don't drive around town with them proudly displayed. No light bar for me either, just some compact KC LED's, sliders, and a rear bumper to protect the corners. I'm not going rock crawling in this thing, but it makes a damn fine dirt roader. KISS.
