Lawn Nazi's Step Inside - Creeping Charlie -

I have had my ass kicked by creeping charlie, it's a pain and my lawn is fubar.

What do you use and how to do you treat it?
I was thinking about seeding on top of it to try and choke it out but I don't think that will work

Plant some kudzu, tiny bit of triple 13 fertilizer. It'll choke it out quick and stay beautifully green year round.

New chemical called Sure Power. My chemical supplier gave me some to try late last year when it first came out and it worked good on some "tough to kill weeds". I'm sure it's expensive and I haven't seen in less than a 2.5 gallon. If I remember, the rate is something like 1oz/1000sqf so 2.5 gallons covers quite a bit.

I'll continue to mix my own concoction for tough to kill weeds because it is cheaper for me that way but for a home gamer, Sure Power is the way to go. And the technical name for what you want to kill is Ground Ivy.

Are you allowed to use Par3 in Ontario? They outlawed it here in MB couple years ago unless you own a farm. I'm really stuck with what to use to control the weeds on my acre of grass without it.

Spray it with Fertilome Weed Free Zone.

It is petroleum based and will kill it without damaging underlying grass.

Not sure if I can buy it direct, I see their head office is 20mins from my house so that is with a phone call today. I searched Par 3 and found a seller in Winnipeg on eBay. What was the going rate for 4L? He is selling it for $130

I've had good luck by treating it in the fall...at least twice...and two weeks apart.

Something with Dicamba that came from Lowes.

Spring / summer application have little to no effect on it.

Yeah, I'm a genius...no...this was suggested by the local university extension agents.

Is it provincial or local?

I use a cheap 2,4-D and Dicamba mix. Usually just the lowest recommended application and regular mowing seem to work for me. Do not spray any plants you like. Luckily, that pretty much means hard to kill cactus and other desert plants.

I just went to kijiji to search that. I don't see an actual kijiji ad but I see a link to an eBay ad where someone from Winnipeg is selling 4L for $130. Is that what you saw?

I usually pay ~$100 through a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy, but it's getting harder to source out.

But it looks like you found the same eBay listing.
Iíll be grabbing some in a week or two

I figured that... but 5-9ft of growth/day in the summer will make up for it.

Just as an update,

Clover is under control and not a dandelion in sight! Creeping charlie is harder to remove and I will try the recommended fall application two weeks apart. For now I'll continue to pull by hand when I cut. I hope bagging it will minimize it's spread.

The front looks awesome, the back not so much but that is because of my neighbour and it's her lawn that destroyed mine.

Applied granular fertilizer (three week slow release), one week later I seeded and applied peat moss. Cutting three times a week right now but it looks like a fairway

you dumb bastard.

I'll weed treat, but fuck fertilizer. I don't like a lawn that much to mow it three times a week.
