REGULATOOOOOORS, Mount UP!

I have a pop with a propane tank on the front. Regulator is mounted on the front also. Line goes to the back and the connection comes out on the side of the trailer where I can hook the grill up to it.

I got a propane griddle for fatherís day. 1lb tanks arenít an issue to deal with but I see I can get an adaptor to hook them up but will it work?

High pressure, low pressure, too many regulators. These are my concerns.

Get an adapter hose, about $20 at Walmart and it will work great. Maybe get the inline filter made for the Big Buddy heater too. Bulk propane is dirty.

So no concerns about two regulators?

I found this but would rather not take pieces off of the grill to use it.

I added a tee from the propane line to my house so I could use that instead of the small bottles. I was told two regulators like that wouldnít work. Itís somewhat true. My smoker works fine like that but the burner for my disc cooker wonít really burn well with that setup.

You would not want a second regulator.

I believe you are asking for a connection into the low pressure system of the pop? If so, is the below link an option? I would personally also add a gas shutoff valve in front of the coupler.....

Linky: Hose w coupler

Yes, concern. Two won't work. Had to take the regulator off of the WeberQ to use the regulated outlet on our travel trailer. I patched together a bunch of fittings before the linked adapter was available.

It's pretty easy to refill the small bottles from a 20+ pounder when you get the adapter for it which is readily available I do run coleman stuff straight off 20+ pound bottles with no issues also. I have a adapter pipe that hooks to a big bottle that I run a lantern, grill and stove all straight off the bottle. Been doing it for years with no issues other than minor leakage occasionally.

I have a camping box that I have full of every possible type propane adapter and hose. Pretty handy.

Everything after the reg at the cylinder should be 11-13” of Water Column (.5 PSI basically) and you need to remove the regulator on any “appliance” you run or the reg at the appliance won’t open. You need to add a quick release and have a hose built. If you want to send me pics I’ll check it out. [email protected].

Fuck the "readily available" adapter.

That thing attaches the green bottle sideways to the white bottle, so you've only got a 50/50 chance of the schraeder valve pointing up. More importantly, there's no ball valve. (Nice visual showing OPEN or CLOSED).

I was filling some of those up when I unscrewed the green bottle and started spouting liquid cold-as-fuck propane out of the white bottle. It was real fun closing that sucker up without getting frostbite.

Better setup has the white bottle upside down on a table with a pipe coming out and a 90 degree elbow straight down, ball valve then BOM adapter.

If you buy the high pressure hose linked above, it won't have 2 regulators. I run that same hose on mine with zero issues.

I made my own with a hose in the middle and put the small bottle on its side on a scale so I nail the weight. I've just seen the readymade ones.

Do you usethe schaeder valve to vent gas?

I was doing that but about half would leak at the schraeder valve. I've since bought 5lbs bottles that work good. Rarely use the 1 lbs now.

The Schrader valve on 1lb. throwaway cyls is also a fixed liquid level gauge.

Just need to make an extended tool to crack it while filling and stop the flow of liquid immediately when it spits. Made a couple by hand but without hardening it, the long ears break off. I need one machined.

I run either 1- or 2- gallon cyls any more with a hose, it’s way cheaper. I carry a pigtail and an adapter just in case somebody else needs a top off on the trail on longer trips.

My understanding is OP wants to attach a griddle (which has a regulator) to his quick connect for the outside burner at the rear of the camper which that line is already regulated. If he were coming straight off the bottle your statement would be true.

You are correct.

Regulator on griddle and regulator on pop-up. It sounds like if this was going to be a permanent fixture I could take the regulator off the griddle with much success.

Id like to use it elsewhere so for now Ill just deal with the mean green baby bottles.

I haven't had issues with that, maybe because I live at 10,000 feet elevation?
