Motor oil on house deck?

I coated my trailer with it, and it looks great, beads water up, and isn't slippery. Any reason not to do this on my house deck? I suppose rain might wash some off onto the ground near my well, about the only issue I can forsee.

Have any of you done this? Any regrets?

The amount of oil dripping off won't affect your well unless you just pour a barrel of it in one spot. What about the smell and tracking it in?

The idea is basically the Naval Stores was of preserving old ships and wooden things, i.e. creosote or a pine-sap derivative. The problem again was leaving a residue. No matter what you do with oil, some of it is going to dissolve in rainwater or spilled water then track around. The idea of a deck is to be abole to walk out there in your bare feet then walk back into your house no problems (you don't wear shoes in your house do you, you fucking animal?).

The ability to walk on your deck in bare feet or white socks will come to an end if you coat it in oil. No matter what. There is no scenario where an amount of oil which acts as a repellant/preservative doesn't fuck up the deck's ability to act as an outdoor floor.

That's one thing I didn't think of.

Sikkens it is, then...if it ever stops raining.

I do it all the time. Once a month. Works great. My car has black floor mats, and I have black carpet in the house. So tracking it in is not an issue. I put it on my cutting boards as well. I had to stop wearing it for lotion though....... I would slip right off my motorcycle seat during my nude sunday rides.

I also like Penofin red lable. Depending if I want a flat of semi gloss finish. Also look at the prep work required for reapplication.

It's phenomenal when the tiny metal slivers work their way into your feet when you are walking out barefoot on your deck. The kids don't seem to mind though, their feet are smaller.

Now it may be me. It might be the mmj I just smoked, but somehow I don't think you're being genuine.

Guarantee that Overbear is an expert on rubbing oil onto most everything.

A possible camping trip is in order for a better explanation/demonstration.

Just wedge your noodle between the gas tank and the seat.

I can't stand being barefoot.

For one my feet get cold without socks on. Like I can't sleep without socks cause my feet with almost hurt from being cold.
Almost lost several toes years ago from frostbite... like full on Mr Deeds looking toes, so probably has something to do with that.

Also hate having dog hair, sawdust, dirt being stuck to my feet... and it's almost guaranteed there's a sharp little pebble somewhere that feels like stepping on a lego from hell.

And yes the floors get cleaned, but can just about use a rake daily on the hair from my Lab. The vizsla not so much. And I get full of sawdust everyday, so it ends up in the house.

An oil spill is only a disaster at first to the wildlife that comes into contact with the oil, fuel what-ever.'
When crude oil, Diesel fuel, Jet fuel, motor oil come into contact with water.
This wakes up the Micro-bio growth, which live in the Oil/Water interface.
This micro-bio growth has been with the oil for millions of years in suspended animation.
It's a tough bastard, it survives the cracking process.
This is required knowledge for an A&P Mechanic.
Why? Because huge algae mats form in fuel tanks of Airliners, and they are very corrosive to Aluminum if it is a "wet-wing".
It also happens in heavy equipment, not as often. but it does.
Especially if the machine sits with a half to empty fuel tank for most of the year.

So spilling a little oil is not really going to have any lasting effect.
