Likely had no clue as to the extent of the injury, and just went by the book, have been sent to one like that, and walked out after he showed me the first exercise he told me to do. PT's are like any other professions, i.e., average, cream of the crop, or bottom feeders, and unfortunately the bottom feeders are often the ones WC and insurance companies send you to first.
The next time you end up worse from a PT, go to the hospital, ER bills usually gets the attention of the insurance companies rather quickly.
If you haven't tried it yet, you might try laying on the floor and putting your legs on the couch or recliner, so that you are in a sitting position, the legs lifted like that will provide a type of traction for the lower back.
