I've been using Vegas Video for almost 16 years. Easy to use, and amazingly powerful.

Vegas is great, and making a comeback it would seem. AfterEffects and Premier are great, and cheap enough monthly that you can pay when you need it and shut it down when you donít.

Ive been using Adobe Premiere for like 15 years or so.. I've tried many, but I prefer Premiere.. I'm even gonna take a college class on it AGAIN.. there is just sooo much to that program, always expanding and improving..

I've been using Corel VideoStudio Pro (and its predecessors) for about 20 years. It's a great program at a reasonable price ($55 these days). In fact, it's still one of the best programs on the market for managing video cache during the editing process.

If your kid thinks s/he might want to do this for a living, go the Adobe route.

oh and as far as learning how to use Adobe Premiere.. for now it would help to go to Udemy.com and pay to watch a few videos.. you can supposedly watch them over and over for the rest of your life.. sometimes they are around 10 dollar, sometimes 20.. the prices go up and down..

Another vote for Premiere CC, though it looks like Premiere Rush would be pretty good for social media type of videos; haven't had the chance to play with it yet though.

It is what I use. It is not cheap and has a steep learning curve. Better have a powerhouse PC if you plan on making long 4k videos if you do not want it to take a large amount of time.

I have an I9 9900k @5.2 with an EVGA FTW3 Ultra RTX 2080Ti on an EVGA z390 Dark motherboard. I can process a 4k video in almost real time. If you got a thread ripper or something it will be faster. Otherwise it will take lots of time to encode and when you are making edits and such the computer can become very laggy or lock up.

I noticed a large improvement going to this new setup from my old i7 7700k dual 1070Ti video cards on an EVGA z270 Classified K mother board. Not only in processing speed but the smoothness when editing and lack of delay.

I havenít tested with premier or any video specific program, but have found the I9s beat the threadrippers when rendering out video from AE. I have a threadripper with a 1080 and 4K is doable, but not the best. Iíll be moving up to a 2080ti very soon, and may switch over to the i9 at the same time. The threadrippers are excellent at 3D rendering though.

What is a good program that is free just to add sound to a video from a drone. Like to be able to add voice to it before I upload it to YouTube.

Davinci Resolve is free and will do that easily. Tons of how-tos on you tube. It's a really nice free program.

Just took a look at this. I've only scratched the surface but their color grading is pretty good and really easy.

This seems like a bad idea. I would consider cutting the internet connection off and taking away their phone.

the basic version that will prbably do more than any teenager needs for a while is free.

a month license is $24 and a year license is less than $200.

a premiere subscription is $20 a month. and fuck adobe.

The free vs paid versions are the same. The only difference is the output format. The free version is limited to like 3 low rez options. But it makes it easy to "test and practice" with. If you save the projects and upgrade later you can re encode them at the higher rez and in any format.
