well I learned they make trailers before the movie is finished.. just to tease us.. and many times what is in the trailer doesnt show up in the movie..

so Im kind of being suspect, about the movie, and will probably wait for it to be on dvd or something

oh and its a shame, how Kelly isnt hot anymore.

I couldn't disagree more. Lots of times it helps gauge interest. I hate trailers that pretty much give the entire movie away.

yes, you are also correct

some trailers have stuff that doesnt make the final cut,.. while on the other side of the spectrum, some trailers include all the best scenes..

I saw many examples of that answer to both points of view.. in class..

Stolen from book of faces
So, a lot of folks have been wondering how Maverick could stick around so long as a 30+ year Navy Captain without forced retirement. Simple really, what had happened was...

Maverick got out of the Navy as an aviator somewhere around 1986. He didn’t do much in his civilian life...played some pool, drove cross country with his gambler brother, and worked at a cocktail bar on an island resort.

Unsatisfied with the way things were going, he then went to law school and changed his name to Daniel Caffey and using various other aliases (long story why but apparently he was involved in some risky business before being a Top Gun). After law school he joined the Navy JAG Corps and worked a high profile case against a Marine Colonel. No longer able to handle the truth as he saw it, he ended up getting out again and working for some shady lawyers in a ”firm,” drove race cars, went to Ireland, worked on some impossible missions, and was apparently a sports agent (although there are no confirmed records of this except for some unattributed mission statement).

Although he could not stick with a particular job or profession since it seemed he always had his eyes wide shut to the possibilities, wasn’t smelling the magnolias, and while looking to the stars...saw nothing but vanilla sky.

Word is that his friend, Jack Reacher, helped him break his funk at a 4th of July party when some tropic thunder occurred. A minority of the guests reported that after the thunder that Maverick talked about a war of the worlds, that we were on the edge of tomorrow, and headed to oblivion unless we did something to stop the rock of ages.

So, feeling a greater calling, he gave his friends Jo and Sam a call (now JAG and DJAG of the Navy JAG Corps) about helping him with an age waiver back into the Naval flight community. They obliged and he was soon back flying mach whatever with his hair on fire. So a lot of people wonder how he could have done all this but it’s simple jack, he made all the right moves...

I don't think it will be the homo-erotic, sausage fest, brain-washing you to be gay movie the first one was.....

The big push now in Hollywood is "women empowerment", where the dude is weak and the woman is the real hero. The new Star Wars, Mad Max, etc...all the new movies do that... so my guess is that's where this one goes.

I am surprised how many of you guys say you love the original movie. You must also love "playing with the boys" because you "lost that lovin feeling" (for women). Next thing you know...some fly-boy is going to put you into a tail-spin, get on your six, and take your highway into the Danger Zone..... You guys can buzz towers all you want... I am not into that.

Tencent Pictures is financing the movie. You've all seen the Drudge link.

This movie is for the Chinese market, not the American market. Even if it's not shown in theaters in China, it has to comply with Communist Party guidelines, hence the no Japan/Taiwan flag on Cruise's cruise jacket.

Tinfoil hat would say that the film was being made to do poorly in the US market, so that it would show evidence of the greater importance of the Chinese market, which is larger now. That's how the Chicoms play.

"Look, the American market is irrelevant now, we have to make storylines for China".

If you spend money on this film, you need to be investigated by Senator McCarthy.

It also follows that Verticalscope.com, the owner of this website and Canadian, would have an investment to promote certain things. Chinese are deep in Canadia's shit, and Tencent is deep in all media's shit. It would be completely blase if Top Gun were promoted here through multiple paths.

Jacket in question, seems reasonable this time:

The Asians all hate each other, this is exactly the kind of games the Chicoms play. So fragile and thin-skinned.
