C8 Mid Engine Corvette

Anyone else watch the unveiling last night?

I know a lot of people are clinging to the old drivetrain layout, but I think overall they did pretty decent with the design. It looks about as much a corvette as a mid engine car could be, few things here and there I'm not a fan of. I could do without the square exhaust pipes.

Hopefully it has enough room for golf clubs, jean shorts, and white polo shirts in the "trunk".

From what I read, the front end has two separate heat exchangers mounted on the sides of the nose instead of one mounted in the middle to allow the "frunk" to have more space

I think they did a great job. It perfectly continues the heritage of the Vette in that owning one means you have absolutely no penis.

The C7 ZR-1 scared the hell out of me. I am not sure I would touch the wheel of what the new ZR-1 or ZO6 are rumored to be.

So does this mean owners will start wearing gold chains around their waste?

Apparently it does since that is your main concern. Those items have NEVER been in my Corvette!

Yep...looks straight up European. I'm not saying it doesn't look good but it doesn't really have what you would typically envision as corvette lines.

Doesn't look like a corvette. It looks like a high end Super Car.

I like it! I could quibble with the front end valence a bit. I like the raked in nose but would like it better without the bottom lip.

I drove a 750 horsepower F150 15 years ago. A modern sports car with traction control and a chassis sitting 4 inches off the ground should be a cakewalk.

The previous ZR1 already was a high end super car. Hell, the only car to ever turn a faster lightning lap was the tricked out 911 GT2 that has a $300k base price.

Not under those circumstances, but I've always found Corvette owners to be a disappointment.

Didn't comment on performance. I said LOOKS like a Super Car

ZR1 had decent/better styling than before but it was still obviously derivative of the earlier designs. The engine move and redesign has broken new ground in the LOOKS department.

Welcome to the 21st century. Manuals are slower than dual clutch autos and don't get as good mpg and are tougher to make pass emissions.

I am/was planning on buying a 10 year old super car in the next 2ish years..... price wise it will be hard not to take a look at these and I am not a chevy fan at all.

Pretty tough to have classic Corvette lines in a mid-engine car. I think they did about as well as they could sticking with the traditional look given the new layout.
