Old 55 drag car

Bought this cream puff last night. Narrowed frame in rear, with a camaro front clip. I am going to finish the 4 link in the rear. But I can’t decide if I should just dump in a 454/400 I have at the shop or drop in a 6.0/6l95 or something I have also. This will be 100% rat rod. It’s in rough shape, gutted interior, no floor. I just want it to shake rattle and roll.

Lol go the easy route and bolt the 454 and 400 in and you could have it moving by mon.

Looks like it will be a fun car.

Gawd, not another LS. If it's not going to be raced, go with the 454 and a lumpy cam and call it done. Flat black for that Two-Lane look.

another vote for the rat with a hog ass cam... White fenderwell headers, a set of slot wheels and some pie crust slicks. Dont forget the yellow or red lexan side windows... and definitely put a handshaker trans in that thing...

I have a set of aluminum square port heads and a big old nasty roller cam I could slip up in it. I just priced some 4 speeds fuck they are proud of them. I have a chevrolet nv4500 in the shed. But the turbo 400 makes it easy. I need to get a rear for it. But I figured I better buy some rims first.

You could always put a blown 426 Hemi in it and put "Blasphemi" on the side.

Oh, wait...

That car needs an engine that makes it shake and barely idles, I vote the big block with a nasty cam and a 4 speed

I vote that 454 you have with a nasty cam, dual quads on a high rise manifold and that nv4500 so you can cruise with OD if you want.

NV4500 are a big truck tranny and not a quick shifting trans.

go find some mid 70's chevy like a monza 4 speed. little saginaw trans can actually hold up to a bit of HP......

I like that car, outside the box engine choice. Only better choice would have been a blown jap V8p

454 and t400 to be simple.

Would be awesome to see a 409 (or 348) in there with a cross ram dual quad manifold.

Drop in what you have to get it going and look for a deal on a 4 speed if you decide you want one.

Driver or race car?

If it's going to be a racer you need a turbo LS, Th400, 9", 29x10.5 slicks, and a cage good for 7.50s.

If it's going to be a driver and your in Ft Worth, good luck with that 454, no floors, gutted interior and no A/C. I'll keep an eye out for the car this winter when it will be drivable here.

I guess I need to pull out that old 69 GTO 4 speed with it's Hurst Shifter and bell housing up in the attic and see if it's still there.

My older Brother would take that off your hands if you ever changed your mind on it.

Cool Agreed on not purposely making it ratty, but nothing at all with having a rough looking functional vehicle. Modern drivetrains in old sheet metal FTW.
