Huh. I'm completely opposite. Reading all the stories and reflections of her has made me want to give less fucks, have more fun, and just make some of my damn dreams come true.

driving a jet car sounds like one hell of a way to go out. (assuming it was 400mphish fast and painless.)

Well who tells the loved one so they can tell your sister. Somebody who is not a loved one needs to let the family know.

I want to know as soon as I can about information that I would value knowing.

So, if my mom is blown up in a bizarre boat accident, I have zero qualms learning about it first on the news or a text or even a reporter calling to ask for comment...

The protocol for communications has had a HUGE disruption in the past 20 years and we have not caught up to it...

Grief is grief... when people get butthurt about the circumstances of notification, well, I think they are just kind of projecting... shooting the messenger.

Which would be more awkward... finding out that your dad died when he jammed a gerbil up his ass on the news in your own house or having some cop come and describe what happened...

zero fucks given.

When I buy the farm, I do not care... laugh about it if you can!

The comments here and on FB were respectful, for the most part. The comments on the MSM news articles of the crash are brutally childish.

I seem to recall a tread about you dying not long ago.

I can’t remember all the threads. My memory is not what it used to be. I know there was a threat a while back that I haven’t been on in a while. A welfare check. And maybe somebody died and they weren’t sure if it was me? Like I said I wish I remembered better.

We had a fatal crash situation in a pretty rural part of our county a couple years ago that involved a friend of mine's daughter, and this thread reminded me of it as it was a pretty terrible situation, and it fits in with this discussion about notification of loved ones.

Within just a couple of minutes of the 911 call one of the local first responder was on scene and realized there was a fatality and that he knew her personally, then as he's doing triage on the other 2 victims he hears our mutual friend on the radio respond that he was enroute and he was about 5 minutes away from the scene unknowingly headed to the scene of his daughter's rather violent death.
The first responder did what he could to get dispatch to try and stop our friend/officer from responding to the location but they weren't able to get him diverted before he was on scene.

I've personally found out in a couple different ways about the sudden unexpected deaths(accidental and otherwise) of multiple friends (including my life long best friend) and close relatives, I was also with a good friend when she received the Police notification that her 19 year old son(whom she'd talked to not 30 mins prior) had just died on impact in a car accident(he was a passenger).
As bad as those moments were I can't even imagine being one of the first people on scene to a loved ones violent death and having to still do your job knowing your daughter's dead body is right there, although apparently my officer friend did so with as much grace and dignity as he could muster and kept it together until other officers had the scene under control before he had his full blown grief stricken father breakdown.

Don’t worry about the thread title. If people are really pissed about it I’ll ask somebody to change the thread title.

Let me know.

No issues here. Honestly, didn't even think about it until this thread.

Its a click bait tile and so many of those tiles/links are scummy that's why I thought it was disrespectful. Its also disrespectful to do to someones that was a good role model for the motorsports and 4x4 community within hours of the persons death. but it not worth my time to get into a disagreement about it online.

It's my understanding that thread title was a genuine question, posted by someone who had a genuine connection to Jessi Combs.

Agreed there are examples of what you're describing, but this wan't one of them. My $.02 - ignore it as you see fit
