$3900, completely avoidable. Just a hobby. $3900 we can't really afford. I need a new axle assembly, as I've bent my front stock Dana44.

Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust.

Anyone have similar trouble-with-the-Mrs stories to make mine seem not so bad?

OP, as entertaining as this thread is, anyone who would squander $3900 that his family can't afford really has their priorities messed up.

Exactly. Go to a junkyard find a d60, mod it to fit your application. My world revolves around making used parts work for you.

Yep. OP, as an adult you must separate your wants from your needs.

Agreed. I managed to fry the rings on cylinder 6 in my 04 Dodge Cummins that I bought brand new. The truck is currently undergoing an engine rebuild with new injectors, and a new clutch and its costing me around $9000 for parts and labor. We couldnt really afford it either, and I was about to just get rid of the truck, then I decided to sell my SXS to pay for the truck repairs, as the truck meant way more to me than the sxs. If you cant afford it, either sell some "toys" to pay for it, or dont fix it until you can save the cash up.

Can't afford is a bit of hyperbole. Kids are well taken care of. Fresh newspaper in their cages every night!

Did a lot of alignments, from what I saw, a lot of stock dana axles from the late 90's and early 2000's were bent from the factory. They had some quality control issues for a bit. Dodge trucks and Jeeps where I saw it mostly. Guess Chrysler didn't care.
