That is TRUTH!! CJ2/3 and 5 owners, literally thought you were wheeling a Brady Bunch Station wagon when CJ-7 came out.

Ok....This thread has made me laugh a lot.
First of all...I've been wheeling on the Rubicon since 1979 with my Uncle (1944 CJ) and Cousin (1941 CJ). At 20 years old in 1982, I bought an all stock 1947 CJ-2A. I still own it...but it's sadly not stock anymore. Since 1982, I have only wheeled on Fordyce and Rubicon in my CJ-2A. It has the usual 80's upgrades, Buick odd-fire, 4 speed saginaw, 44/30 locked on 32's. But in June, I decided after riding shotgun in Moab in a JK that I would buy one. I found a 2017 JKU Recon Edition that was a former grocery getter. I lifted it (Yes BOLT ON) 3.5", put WFO Steering and 37's KMIII. That's about it, other cosmetic 1/2 doors. The first time I wheeled it, I had paper plates on the Jeepers Jamboree. All my old CJ2A lines were OUT THE WINDOW! It was like I ran a brand new Rubicon Trail...none of my lines were the same. Impressions? OMG...Wheeling a flatty...you need a kidney belt. The JK? SMOOOTH. The most terrifying part of the Rubicon in my CJ? The stair steps going up the Bowl, because mother nature decided the steps would be the IDENTICAL spacing as a Flat Fender wheelbase. The JK? Didn't even notice. Even though I had 1/2 doors...Hell yes I used the AC sitting in traffic at Big Sluice...cause I could. I've since wheeled the JK 3 times on the Rubicon..I'll be going again on Oct 4-6...it's amazingly awesome wheeler that turns hard work on my 2A into Sunday stroll. And the best part of all? I WILL NEVER, have a Cold Start injector go out. #flipofftoyota ![]()

@DirtyComanche you're right about the internal, Mopar model ID letters NOT ever actually being "LJ" tho' , the public may have wound-up calling them 'LJ's due to the model being referred to as "TJL" when it'd been initially designed/concept presented as a model variation that was to be used by the army in Egypt in 2003: " The Wrangler Unlimited was put into production partly because Chrysler received over 300 comment cards from 2002 Camp Jeep participants who saw a concept (of the longer wheelbase TJ) , asking when it would be made and how much it would cost. It only took 18 months to bring the Unlimited to market, because it was based on a stretched-wheelbase Wrangler designed for Egypt. Jeep people had been considering a longer Wrangler; the 22 inch longer wheelbase TJL was delivered to the Egyptian military in 2003. Chrysler said that the American version was done swiftly, and at nearly 20% less cost than budgeted, thanks partly to durability testing already done for Egypt. 9,000 orders were placed before the Wrangler Unlimited’s debut." https://www.allpar.com/model/jeep/wr...unlimited.html & yes, @paragon the model had the 2.5l ,4 banger on a good number of them from it's first few years, iirc JKUs are fine. you just need to cut about 2'-3' of frame off & tube the back half. (edit: & ignore about 99.2% of everyone else that is driving one on the asphalt. Lotsa suburbia bought 4 door jks & it's a dreadful, confused buncha folk) fwiw, you guys give the sheet metal on JK's too much credit; I can put my finger thru the toilet-paper thin covering of an unlimited jks quarter panel. wafer-thin,sir....

We had camp set up and these JK dudes rolled in and tried to set up with us. In the process they ran over Jed's bag and cot.

[QUOTE=Mr Stubs;44617296]This is a Marlin thing, gizzin’ on the hood sticker
Just couldn’t wait until we got to camp. Toyota problems ![]() The pic is very deceptive, like how the snow conditions seem. There is plenty of room to stand on the window frame and piss while the rig is moving. I thought about climbing on the hood, but figured I would have slipped and died. It wasn’t very well thought out, but it was successful.

My 88" WB Samurai will beat the ever loving shit out of you. It works well, but have you ever turtled a short wheel based rig on the spare tire, real easy to do with these little fuckers. When I get to work on my '86 buggy (Samurai) I want to stretch it out to around 100" or so
