Let's talk about butt stuff.....colonoscopy

So, after 2 years from posting my first thread about shitting blood......

https://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/gene...-too-much.html

I finally decided to see a doctor. Blood work came back good, but she still wants to put the scope up there this coming friday. Everyone says that the prep for it is the worst. I don't really see the issues as I'm already shitting 5-7 times a day now anyways.

So, who's had one? Do I exchange numbers with the doc after its done? Do I owe him breakfast?

All jokes aside, I'm really not looking forward to being violated

1. Drink prep
2. Shit your brains out
3. Drink more prep
4. Shit your brains out some more
5. Get shot, go to sleep
6. Done

That’s about it, drinking the prep is the worst part.

The part about the prep that's nasty is the taste. It's like drinking ocean water, even if you get it ice cold and dump in crystal lite to disguise it. You're "out" for the procedure, so you won't know anything.

You're not going to want to be more than a step or two away from a toilet after you start the cleanout. It was nonstop liquid for about a day.

The worst for me was after it was over, they woke me up to get dressed which was no problem. After I sat down in the wheelchair to be rolled out to my car(wife was driving),the next thing I remember was waking up a day later with no memory of getting home.Complete blank.

The procedure itself,no big deal. You pass out, they take pictures, you go home.

If your lucky, they won't take a Sharpie and draw a smiley face on your ass.

My wife recently had one and the prep stuff was different this time and she didn't mind it so much.

Wear a condom? That's all I got ...best of luck to you.

My doc was female. She told me in a nice doctorly way that she was going to stick her finger in my ass first. I was out before that happened and I think that was part of the plan.
Next thing I knew I was spacing out staring at my belt buckle. "Don, do you need help with your belt?" "No no I'm fine." zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Totally this....

The syrup was so nasty, I wound up throwing up most of the second dosage. At least I had eaten lightly prior to all this, so there was little to clean out.

The colonoscopy itself was a piece of cake. Like taking a nap, probe, over....

I have had pre-cancer polyps removed, so I go every 5 years....

When drinking the prep solution use a straw and stick it as far back in your throat as you can when you drink. If you can find them, use a wide milkshake straw.

Last time I had it done I woke up half way through and got to watch the procedure on the video monitor. The polyp removal was interesting.

I've tried switching up my diet. More meat, less meat, less dairy, more fruits and veggies, less fruit and veggies, more fiber, more water.....Doesn't matter if I eat a saltine cracker or a filet mignon, it goes through me like a lazarbeam.

My first doc thought it was stress related, so they put me on anti depressants for the last 5 months. I wasn't feeling depressed, but what the hell do I know...I'm not a doctor.

After ativan almost ruined my life this summer I got off that shit (still on zoloft though). Got a new doctor who actually gives a shit (pun intended). Thanks kaiser

Mom had 9"of her colon removed 2 years ago from cancer, her mom died from it so it's in the family

good luck man.

I had mine when I turned 50, no big deal. The prep is no big deal... just gets boring to shit so much...

you do feel great from cleaning out the system.. after your exam, do the right stuff to repopulate your gut. On diet, I'd eat meat and salads. Don't eat sugar, avoid carbs. Avoid fizzy drinks (occasional beer is okay)

if you have a family history of cancer (I do) go as often for the exam as insurance will cover.

For stress, get help. Go to counseling. Get a SHIT TON of exercise. Avoid negative people who are not cool.

Yeah....colon cancer at any age would suck. But at 34 I hope it's nothing serious. Thanks for the good words guys

Edit: I've been doing therapy for the last 5 months. I go twice a month and yes you're right. It does help a lot

No family history here, so I got the ColoGuard test. Results came back normal on Thursday. No "up periscope" for me, all I had to do was poop in a box and take it to the UPS store, then wait on results. Checks for blood and irregular DNA in the sample from cancer. No diet modifications, and I made sure to eat corn for three days prior just to mess with the lab...

Donít procrastinate on drinking the prep, the later you finish the later you finish pooping, my wife almost missed her procedure because she didnít think she could leave the house.

I had the colonoscopy earlier this year. It wasn't bad. A good cleanse is good for the body. They gave me pics after the procedure. It looked so clean in there. I was kinda proud. They snipped off 5 polyps while in there. All were benign.

Pools are cooling off here too. But that just means the rich snowbirds are coming back. Then its heater season. Game on.
