Spinoff...why did you get married?

I'm at the point in my life that I couldn't be happier with the girl I have. We are getting married next year. Even went and picked out rings yesterday. We're both in our mid 30s, and done sowing our oats. Shes probably my best friend and vice versa.....

Anyone else on here actually happy they got married?
My parents have been together for 47 years, so divorce isnt familiar in my family, or my lady's either

I'm happy, glad I did it. She's easy going, has the same dark sense of humor I do, drama free, and our priorities in life both align. Been together 14yrs now, 7 of that married.

I married Sharon because I realized I loved her and I couldn't imagine being without her. It's the only marriage I've had and I was 53 when we got married.

I am, but I had a plan....... Told myself a loooong time ago that I wasn't going to get married or have a kid until the age of 40. Met my wife when I was 31, she is 9yrs younger than me. She stuck with my stupid ass through thick and thin for 9yrs knowing what my plan was, and that I had zero intention of changing it. I turned 40 on Sept 3rd, 2015. We got married on Sept 12th, 2015. Honestly, she is the best thing that ever happened to me. Should have done it sooner but making her wait 9yrs while I "conditioned" her was a smart move on my part. Dont like it, leave was my answer to alot of her bitching during the 9yr test drive, and she stuck around. I have none of the typical wife/woman issues I hear so many of you guys complaining about. I do what I want, when I want and she accepts it. Period.

I couldn't think of anything better to do that day so we got hitched.

Met on march 31st 2006, we were standing alone in my parents kitchen bs'ing a month later and asked her when we were getting married, we needed to pick a date. Turns out march 31 2007 was a good date so that's when it happened.

We've been through some shit over the years but we get along well so we keep on going. Communication is key, holding things in builds resentment and that's what leads to divorce.

My parents have been married 55 years, hers 25 (step dad, bio dad is a piece of shit) years but they've been friends for close to 50, they just realized they were married to the wrong people. Apparently so did her dad and her step dads ex wife, her dad ran away with her step dads ex wife. Do the math on that shit.

Why? Because we both wanted to.
We spent our honeymoon trail riding Northern Michigan and wheeling Silver Lake Sand Dunes. 41 years later we still wheel and go to the dunes each summer.

Because after six years of dating and raising her kid she wanted the piece of paper.

Funny thing is that four years after that she was done with it. Go figure.

That's no joke. Her mom never had a job, she was always a stay at home mom and her step dad didn't know much but how to provide, his ex had always taken care of the kids. When their ex's skinned out together they were both left trying to figure things out and ended up moving in together out of convenience that turned into a whole lot more.

Her whole family is pretty fucked but there are some normalish ones in there occasionally.

It was love at first sight for me...Sounds cheesey, but it's true.

We met Oct 1976
We got engaged Dec 1976
Married Sept 1977 (I had just turn 21, she had just turned 19)

Still happily married 42 years later...

It was 1984 and we were young and happy together. We were poor but we didn’t care because we had each other and that was all that mattered. We’re closer than ever now with the kids grown up, and more time together than ever. Life is awesome.

After banging her in a 3/4 wall shed on the hood of a riding mower at a party where 60 of my closest friends went to process their Miller lites I know she was the one.

Not only that I made her hit submit on this post.

To be honest I wasnt sure I was ready but also didnt know if I ever would be. I had been dating her for 9 years and didnt want to be with anyone else. That combined with believing that the "right" thing to do was marriage before kids, I popped the question. I'm happy and it's no different really then before.
