I wonder what the root cause is. Somebody throw bbq coals in the trash? Sure put that driver in a lose-lose situation.

I'm going to guess a chemical reaction.

Like said above, all trash collections will now stop any time there is a threat of fire. So California will now be without electricity and with trash piling up...

Nah I'd bet on some smouldering ashes or something before I'd bet on a chemical reaction.

It doesnít matter if you have 100í fire break around your shack when the wind is blowing 20-30 it will move the fire across it.

Yes it seems California is full of feminatziís, however this fire thing is gonna be a real tough problem to solve.
He has a small point. Wyoming, Montana, South Dak, Idaho have delt with fires for years. Those states can and have been brown dry for years.

And done most of the stuff he mentions. But since there is only 50 people living in those states no one cares and blows off the preventative measure's.

This is so typical of CA, CA is the only state that ever can have the appropriate type of disaster and response.

And yes a 100 foot fire break would help. Lowers the intensity and speed of movement.

The fires still sucks regardless of where they are.

Well, fuck that. It's not a flood. It's not a blizzard. It's not an earthquake. It's a fire, and fires are controlled by humans.

Lack of will is all it is. Lack of will and vision, and it's racket.
now your being dumb, they can be mitigated and risk can be reduced but they can't be controlled or fully prevented and in some places they should just let them burn.

This was so far...

"LAFD's Ralph Terrazas noted at a news conference Friday that they were investigating media reports that a witness saw the fire start at the base of an electrical tower behind his home. Robert Delgado told ABC7 that he noticed the fire at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday."

From this...

Hmmm... Wonder if So Cal Edison will now tank, like PG&E.....

Right. I talk about things that I know about or have a reasonably defensible position on. You don't see me shitting up the Ramona Car Show thread b/c I have no knowledge of the Ramona Car Show and no defensible opinion about it (too many SBCs are there, surely).

So you're incorrect. It's not Every. Single. Topic.

You suffer from an inability to weigh absence. This is normal human psychology. You notice what's there, not what's absent, at least in an intellectual sense. For example, most people don't notice when their car works correctly, but they sure as fuck notice when it doesn't. People don't notice when their computer network crew has things running correctly, but they get all out of shape when they don't.

It's a human cognitive limitation you are describing, and that is your problem, not mine.

With a five minute or less response from the fire department it probably wouldn't have even burned up the truck. Doubt that trash company will be around after the lawsuits.

I'd like to hear your solution to preventing a fire from burning 100 acres a minute, and jumping over 8 lanes of freeway due to 70mph wind gusts and 5% humidity. A lot of the heavy fuel areas aren't accesible by machinery.

Maybe everboob should hold an online seminar and teach all of the experts around here how to fix this.

if you take the populations of all the states you listed... it is less that, LESS than ⅓ of the bay area population. LESS.

When you look at the population and topography of California... the stated has more people than all of Canada and the topography is so varied with more than HALF living in a place that is prone to burn.
