I bought a set of the Sony a few months ago. I read all the reviews and couldn't make up my mind, they were pretty much the same price. So far I like them a lot. I fly a few times a year and they are very nice on the plane. I wear mine a lot at work. I work in a powerhouse; the turbines are outside of my office door and the steam reducing stations are above the office. The head phones do a great job of taking the hum of the turbines and the squeal of the steam flow out.

Sony MK3.
Bose.

But I like ear plugs. NC headfones over ear plugs is also nice.

Nothing worse than a headset that drones out the engines but makes the vocals of the stupid chicks discussing whatever really loud and clear that way.

I like the QC 30ís better, but it has buds. I dont like the bar from the headsets on the top of my head.
They are also $300, since i had to buy a new set last week.

Well the bose showed up today.

Charged them and set it all up.

Put them on and was not impressed. I could still hear. So I pulled out the Kove. Put them on and went huh... are these on. Turned off the ANC on the Bose and put them on, better than the Kove with them on.

Turn them on low.... eh. Turned them on High... Ok that works.

Was honestly expecting more. But they are 100x better than the Kove. Will report back after I use them this week.

If nothing else they are WAY more comfortable. So there is that.

update:

Played with them some more, still not 'head over heels' for the ANC but combined with the Bluetooth music - even on stupid low, it is more than effective.

Now to join the modern world and put some music on my phone, since streaming while flying is not ideal.

If it's anything like the ones that I just used recently, wait til you get on a plane and have them cancel out the drone of the turbines. Those ones (IcelandAir branded) probably aren't even that great as far as headphones go and it was immediately 100x better. I'm sure the Bose will yield an even better result.

THIS^^^

This is where they really shine. The plane noise and associated mental fatigue really goes away. I have tried a couple of different brands and the Bose are really the best. I love them.

They were def way better than the Kove, esp on the plane as stated.

It still seemed there were a few tones that would want to not tune out. Like the lady the row behind me who felt it was acceptable to have a full volume conversation on her phone, but on the phone where she likes to hold it in front of her and yell into it, with the other person on speaker. I turned and just stared her down for a good 5 min with out breaking contact. She got the hint, because she switched to 'standard' phone use and I heard her comment about this guy on the plane staring at her.

Had them on at the airport bar, with music playing and it was awesome. Everything was tuned out. Need to get some tunes on the phone. Or as I was told today I can DL pandora/xm channels to my phone and play them while in airplane mode. Gonna have to do that.

All in all, $350 was more than I wanted to pay, but performance wise I am okay with it. and the hard case is very nice as well.

I'm kinda digging my new AirPods Pro. I dont listen to music much, but it does sound pretty awesome with em. First song I listened to was Godsmack Voodoo. Theres so much going on in the background that I never heard.

I'm wearing them around the house today. With noise cancellation on I cant hear the wife nagging at me or my daughter talking on the phone. Turn on transparency mode and its like not having em in at all.

I mostly use them for business. I'm on the phone all day. I can hear the caller so much better without all the background noise, but can also wear both of them driving and still hear traffic around me.

Not sure if they are worth $250, but for now I'm keeping em.

This is what some folks donít understand about noise cancelling.
The Bose are tuning out the repetitive stuff and the lows and highs.

I like mine when studying and working because it tunes out washer, dryer, traffic, and kids when loud but I can hear them when they say daddy.
