I just got hearing aids.

So I now have another accessory, I have a set of PHONAK Marvel series hearing aids, my question is. Do they have a high Db cutoff for random HIGH Db sounds. I got them on 10/10/19 I don't know if I need to remove/turn off before going shooting. They work great I am just not sure of shooting with them ON.

What?

Have first hearing aids, was wondering if I have to remove the prior to going shooting. Some brands have a limiter, others don't.

Got it. You folks are assholes. THAT is why I come here, but I really would like a answer to this from a person who is dealing with this shit.

Saw nothing on their site, nothing in FAQ section.

They probaly do roll down the windows on the highway, mine cut out when loud noise, hunting i take out and put in ear plugs.

I seem to make a lot of noise walking in the woods when wearing them.

Just turn em off. They sorta act like noise reduction earmuffs if you got a tight mold. FYI you most likely can't wear shit over them or you get feedback.

I've had eleventy billion different hearing aids since I was like 6. Some are triggered off by loud noises, some not. Pulling a metal cart across a slip resistant floor shuts off my current aids.

Good info. I know when it is windy it sounds like tight wrapped bubble wrap inside my head. I will try this, widow open at speed.

These things make a huge difference, yet certain situations are at the pain levels. With a cupped hand over them at the preset levels the left rings like hell. The right a bit. I can adjust each so I can tone it down. So I will just turn them off before shooting, when I get an answer I will go that route. Thank you folks.

When I said, "I hope you get AIDS" this isn't what I meant. Maybe you just didn't hear me correctly...

First time users need a couple weeks to dial em in. You will probably need to have em adjusted a few times after you go through your daily life and hear shit you always hear. What sounds good in the audiologist's office doesn't always work in your world.

It took me two adjustments to get mine at a comfortable level. I rarely have to adjust the volume now.

If you wanna save a little cash, Amazon has a bunch of 60 packs of batteries for around $15.

Type louder, I can't hear you.:flipoff2:

MudD is correct that you can just turn them off. If the molds are a good fit they do cushion the sound some. Most likely your Phonak will require you to open the battery case to shut it off.

If you're almost as deaf as a doornail (like me) you could just yank 'em out and probably still not hear anything. :D

I found all the "auto" type features (like the cut off) extremely annoying and had them all disabled. Even so . I'd probably remove the aid closest to the gun for the air compression/concussive blast (hopefully no muzzle blasting). Why rattle 'em if you don't have to ?
