I auto crossed for a lot of my youth. The slower it looks, the faster you are going. I donít understand it either. Try to have somebody drift the course and they will come in dead last, somebody that does not squeal a tire will kill them.

I would love to have a Ferrari. I kind of wish they made one with an automatic. My mother thinks I would buy one and put a wheelchair rack on the back. She is not wrong. European cars are so much nicer to drive in the crap that comes out of Detroit. Iíve driven all kinds of muscle cars, they donít impress me anymore.

That's about it too. 99% of people overdrive and push in the corners. I still do it if I'm chasing someone's time and I get excited.

There is some geezer that shows up in a Z4 that can fucking drive. If he can do it I'm sure a geriatric like yourself would have fun too.
I used to autocross a 1973 Mercury Capri with the 2.6L V6 that had a turbo on it. Also lowered 2" with bigger swaybars and wide tires.

All the recent Ferraris are automatics. IIRC the last manual trans Ferrari was the 599.

Most of the dual clutch transmission is I have seen require you to use both hands to get into reverse. I donít consider them to be true automatics.

But why not? Once you are in R, you just step on the gas and brake like an automatic, so I don't see the difference? Is there something else you have to do?

I've never even been in a DCT car so I have no idea.

Because it takes two hands to get into neutral and reverse, I donít consider them automatics and a quadriplegic cannot drive one.. I would not be able to hold the brake and shift it into out of gear.

seems like the hybrids would have the easiest time adapting, no reason to use the gas engine for reverse, just use the E motor to push it back and you wouldn't need to really fuck with the clutches.

I didn't watch the video and I've no idea how they are building their hybrid drivetrains, but typical fashion would be really easy.

Frank, there's no clutch pedal and all the recent dual clutch Ferraris have a button to select reverse. This is from the 812 Superfast.

This.

I used to run Solo-2, in F-stock class, took regional, and went to state. (Took third) My mentor used to say: "fast isn't fast. Smooth is fast" took me a while to really "get" that through my thick head, but now that it is, I can most any car through turns quickly, without squeal from the tires.

I used to autocross back in the 70's....Some cars are faster with some oversteer especially on the tight turns...Example being my 66 Corvair that had a front roll bar to induce understeer ... Disconnect the bar and get the ass end to come around just slightly and it was good..And the Datsun 510's and BMW 2002's went faster with a bit of ass end sliding.. It all depends how the course is laid out...

This reminds me of a Top Gear show I watched a few years ago. They were comparing a Mercedes, BMW and a Cadillac sport coups. The hosts revealed the Cadillac beat the others in every measurable way. (And cost less) Then they stated the Euro's were "nicer to drive". They lamented the Cadillac felt "plasticky" inside. (It had full leather interior)

I don't mind if you prefer a Ferrari. Just be honest and say you like it. Comparing modern Euro cars to 60's muscle cars is hardly fair.
