Maybe someone pulled the pin, maybe someone forgot to put the pin in all together. Those are some pretty janky trailers for dudes like that but maybe its because of Cali's screwed up cdl requirements.

But anyone that tows on a regular basis needs to learn to do walkarounds multiple times a day any time you leave your truck/trailer out of sight for an extended amount of time.

I remember seeing that. It's crazy what people will do. I've heard of this happening to people before though. Is it dumb kids? Or jealous people? What possesses someone to mess with someone else's stuff like that?

Yesterday someone used a pair of snips and cut the CB cord and the winch remote wires on my step-dads jeep while he was in True Value. But they didn't cut the other wires going to the winch or steal anything. Who knows why people do this kind of stuff.

Did you forget the part where they are going to Mexico? You donít take a nice trailer to Baja. Often they are left at hotels during the race. No need for anything nice.

Ass holes out here have been doing a lot of similar stuff, especially at boat ramps. I've replaced the reciever pin and coupler pin and everything else I can with locks. Still doesn't replace checking before hitting the road after every stop but definitely helps.

Same here, every time I stop for any reason I do a walk around and double check everything before getting back in the truck. In fact, I double check everything when I exit the truck then again just before I get back in.

Locking receiver pins are cheap.

I actually didn't even think about that. Its a very valid point.

I never used to check anything, but after so much time in truck stops. I constantly look at everything. I make sure no one has stuck anything under my tires, I check my 5th wheel pin. I look at my fuel tanks, my lights, my straps, anything I can think of.

High profile stuff like that sitting in a parking lot makes them instant targets.

A necessity from thieves and "pin pullers". Yes, if the chains were on correctly, it wouldn't have been such a disaster. Yes, as an operator it is YOUR responsibility to check your load and equipment before you take off every time. Another thing I do is to walk around and hit every trailer tire and trailer hub with an IR gun when I stop. Takes a minute. I hate losing wheels.
