That's a tacky picture. Shooting center mass on a deer is risky/unsportsmanlike. Shooting at a buck without knowing his antlers/age is amateur.

Congrats on your harvest, but I'd kick a lease hunter off the property if they pulled a stunt like that.

This is typical of deer farmers who want a cool mount. For the people who hunt to eat, it's a bit different. Backstraps are tasty, never mind the rack.

I have a saying; “you can’t eat the rack”.

I hunt... and I know quite a few guys that just want to go for the mount. Da fawk is that? I have a healthy respect for what I harvest, and getting a cool mount isn't part of that.

Unless you are gonna do a selfie.

Kudos on your deer SZ.

Kudos on your deer SZ.
Back in the mid late 90's a buddy of mine and his dad were lucky enough to have their names drawn for a special herd population reduction hunt, down around Camp Atterbury on some .gov property that was overpopulated with whitetail.
The #1 rule of the hunt is that ABSOLUTELY no racks from ANY of the bucks that were killed could be kept to encourage the hunters to actually take the shot and not just sit and wait on a "better specimen".
Apparently there were a handful of hunters that were pissed off about the rule, they were basically told you either take the deer no rack or you don't hunt your choice.

The craziest thing he said he witnessed during that hunt was animal rights protesters that were literally dressed up in deer-esque costumes holding signs. Those morons actually dressing up like the intended targets of the hunters was a good idea, dumbasses anyway.

Sounds like a good idea to me! Might help control the protester population.

That's a hilarious pic. I don't think I've ever been dissapointed by clicking on a Silverzuk thread!

I always use 10-round mags while hunting, and we have no mag restrictions here. I find them more convenient when shooting out of my blind, and I’ve never ran a mag dry while hunting. Now if I was getting on 10+ pig sounders, sure I’d use a bigger mag, but it never happens on the property.

Something tells me deer hunting is different where you are. Translation for real hunters?

I agree. I have 5 round mags for hunting with the AR-15s and a 10 rounder for the AR-10. We have no mag size limits here either, but the rifle weighs less and is somewhat easier to maneuver through the brush with a smaller mag.

Some of us live where wild pigs are a problem and they charge will you. A bolt action isn't my weapon of choice against a herd of pissed off wild pigs.

He hunts in a high fenced area where each buck has a picture ID with age and rack score. You have to ask the buck for ID to make sure he's legal.

I posted it to a TN hunting page right after you put it on your wall. Several thousand likes later... I assume it was shared extensively, lol.

Congratulations.

Also, we are limited to 5 round magazines for deer hunting with Semi-automatic firearms in Michigan.
