"thanks. I'd rather have a professional do this for me. If I wanted to be a cashier I'd apply. No disrespect."

Think of all the people that have jobs when you avoid self checkout. Stores use to say how many more people would be available to help and it quickly became a money saving thing. Less employees in the store.

No. One person who "manages" the 6 self checkout. They won't do shit unless the thing breaks down our you try and scan something on the over 18 list. Which is now alot of stuff I now know. I haven't been to Walmart for close to a year. But I needed something right away.
I've never been into a Walmart that doesn't have the cigarette/booze counter with a human being there. If you're shopping between 6am and 10pm there HAS to be another register open. I don't shop at Walmart for a large number of reasons and the checkout process is one of them.

What kind of picture do you think they're taking with the camera in a dome mounted on the wall at head level as you walk through the entrance of their store? Every wal-mart I've been in across the country has those now, and I'd bet the facial recognition they do is also tied to your name if you use a card to check out or show your ID to buy ammo.

Fuck those things. I had to go to a customers house a few months ago to meet with the owner of one our builders. We stepped outside to talk and a few days later I get called in the owner's (my company) office because this lady heard me call her batshit nuts on her fucking doorbell.

Told the owner I didn't know her front porch was wiretapped.
He wanted me to call and apologize. I told him I'd sooner caller and tell her she's batshit nuts.

Lady was full on batshit too. She bought a tract house, base builder cabinets, no upgrades, ect. I walked in with the builder and she must have had 100k stickers all over the place with all of them color coded, numbered, ect to correspond with her complaints.

You work for Walmart, and tell Walmart everything you buy...why would this be a shock??

See I remember when regular service at the Gas Station, meant someone physically pumped your gas for you, checked your tires, cleaned your windows and checked fluids under the hood. This...wasn't "premium" or "full" service, it was regular service.

Now...you can rarely find regular service, which is now re-branded as Premium or full service. Almost everyone pumps their own gas. That's regular service.

Retail stores, are now headed this way. Regular service, is being branded as SLOW..and self-service, is sold as FAST. How? By artificially limiting human checkouts, and creating the illusion of faster service, being....YOU.

Then on top of that....You put your phone number in, to receive discounts. But what you've really done, is give Walmart and every other retailer that does it...a revenue stream on YOU. They know what and how often you buy everything.

Your face? You did all the work, gave them your shit and THEY make money off it. Your face is like 1% of the issue.

I am surprised no one said anything about the new Tv's with cameras and mic's built into them....yeppers they are in your house, kids bed rooms, your bedroom and your man cave...
Cnn Report
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x6TOtkFQxY

https://www.consumerreports.org/priv...ping-features/

Smart TVs are sets that connect to the internet, making it easy to stream videos from services such as Netflix. Our investigation found that all smart TVs can collect and share significant amounts of personal data about their viewers. And so can the dozens—or even hundreds—of third-party apps that work with the platforms.

These concerns are receiving lots of media attention this holiday shopping season, because an FBI office in Oregon issued a warning saying that some smart TVs are vulnerable to hacking, and that a number of TVs have video cameras built into them.

But the FBI statement covers much of the same ground that we reported previously, and some of the concerns it raises have already been resolved.

Built-in cameras, for instance, have largely been eliminated from new televisions. Consumer Reports' labs haven't seen one in any of the hundreds of new TVs we've tested in the past two years.

And some security problems that Consumer Reports found and reported on in 2018 were addressed. Samsung, for instance, fixed a vulnerability that could let hackers take control of your TV after we contacted the company about the problem.

But privacy concerns remain. In a recent study, researchers at Northeastern University and Imperial College London looked at smart TVs and other internet-connected devices and found that many of them sent data to Amazon, Facebook, and Doubleclick, Google's advertising business. Nearly all the TVs sent data to Netflix even if the app wasn't installed or the owner hadn't activated it.

Legally they cant stop you. You have paid for your property and they have accepted payment. They want to search your private property. You also own the receipt they want to look at.

Just say no and keep walking. I have never stopped at one.

California did that before it was cool. I’m sure people will steal them until they’re locked up.

Correct.

No employee in any walmart store can stop you so anyone can smile and walk through. In fact it is policy that no associate can touch a customer. Only salaried managers can "place a hand on your back to lead you out".

There has been a huge increase of theft via self checkouts and this prompted the greeters to become checkers. Many do not know this but they double as a watch for terrorism situations or dumbasses planning trouble.

Get an immersion circulator. I sous vide a batch of steaks or pork chops in vacuum sealed bags to perfect medium rare on the weekend and toss them in the fridge. I’ll fire up a hot caste iron for dinner throughout the week and sear them for a minute on each side. Steakhouse medium rare every time.

You guys are worried about Walmart and facial recognition. What about Disneyland or Disneyworld. They take a picture of every single person that enters that place. Wonder what they use that information for??
