I am not a cat person but if you take on the responsibility of having a pet then you better be willing to take them to the vet and care for them when they are sick.

He came back a minute later, grabbed the 22 and dispatched Marcus humanely. He was teary eyed when he returned. We let a few hours pass and we went outside, wrapped him in a blanket and buried him behind the garden.

Nothing either of you did was anymore more decent.

Years ago, a buddy of mine and his new wife adopted a couple of free cats. They were cool, mostly outdoor cats. At some point one of them came hobbling home with its rear leg almost detached. He was at work, she rushed the cat to the vet. The vet surgically finished the job and handed her a bill for $500.

I still remember the argument that ensued:

Friend: You paid what? For Christ sake, how much did we pay for the cat?
Friend's Wife: Nothing?
Friend: How much would a new one cost?
Friend's Wife: I don't know.
Friend: The same as this one, nothing. Are you going to get a job, because the rent and car payment are due and you just maxed out our credit?
Cat wasnt hit by a car, it has bloody shit. Dont know if it's something small or on the verge of death until *gasp* it goes to a vet, your quip really has no applicable relevance.

Again, a leg hanging off has no applicable relevance to a bloody turd. What you are willing to spend on a cat and what someone else is willing to spend on a cat are two separate things filled with many variables such as disposable income, sentimental value, etc. Just because a dude wants to know what the hell is wrong with a stupid ass cat doesnt mean he doesnt face other issues as well, some might be worse than your issues of being able to judge someone's entire life because they want to know about blood in their cats turd. Humans are capable of multitasking. Talk about white people problems.

The more people I know, the more I like dogs (and cats), this thread is a good example of that

So they were going to pay the rent and car pay with credit and they only had $500 available credit?

I googled for a few hours and there are a bunch of possibilities. Food allergies, worms, bacterial infection, furball clog, constipation, etc.

Who has dealt with similar situation and what was the issue? I am trying to avoid going to the vet if I can. Last time I went was not a pleasant experience.
Didn't read other responses.
Go pay for a blood work test.
Then you'll know what the deal is for about as cheap as you can get.

He was paying bills from their checking account and trying to pay down CC every month—like just a little more than the minimum payment.

This is the same buddy who used most his student loan one year on an awesome sound system. We had kick ass parties.

Fortunately for the both of them, he made and makes good money in hi-tech and can now afford the lifestyle.

I really could care less what people do with their animals as long as they are not abused. But in this case the wife has every right to burn 500 on the cat if his dumbass can blow money on shit he wants. I buy guns and fishing equipment and jeep parts, my wife buys makeup and purses and nickknacks etc. It would be pretty fucked up for me to deny her while not denying myself. Your friend sounds like a real asshole.

we put our 15 year old ranch dog down two weeks ago. Mouth cancer. My wife asked me not to dispatch her and we spent 75.00 for a shot that was not at home, nor the way I would have picked it, but I paid it. She was a great dog... but, it was time before she started really suffering.

As for your kitty... if she isn't in apparent pain, I'd isolate her and make sure she has water and some food... and keep her cleaned up for a few days and see what happens.

Cats are just dog food that hasn't been caught yet.

I've got to agree here. I like cats in general, and they're dead useful if they can kill mice, etc., but when they cease to function properly, it's time to send them on their way.

For my dog, I get bent over at the vet and pay the bill. For a cat, never again. Spent $1,200 one time to try and save the cat's tail after he got into a fight (he was always fighting with something). It was $300 to amputate the tail or pay as you go to try and save it. The wife begged me to try to save the tail. $1,200 later, they charged me another $300 to amputate it because they failed. Fawkin scam. Told her next fight the cat is on it's own no matter what. No vet. Not even 5 cents for a .22 bullet.

The vet bill is always double what they tell you it will be. I'll spend it on my dog, cause I'm kinda ride or die with him. Cat...hell no...

Handle your business as you see fit. As long as the government doesn't try and make me take my sick/hurt animal to the vet I'm cool with how you waste your money. All living things die... get over it.

Go to Vet.
Ask price.
Tell them you'd rather shoot it.
Wait.
Leave.

Do it again the next day.

Took the fucker to the vet. They prescribed Metronidazole and said to change diet to Royal Canin rabbit can food for 6 weeks to see if it is food allergy.

Fed him last night and this morning but he will not touch it. Even little shit ran from it and he eats anything. Looks like cheap ass dog food. Took that shit back for a refund and got some Wellness food from petco. He gobbled it down.

Meanwhile i found a straight as a nail 5" turd next to the litter box. Dunno who left it. They say there are no straight lines in nature. I beg to differ.

Outdoor cats are expensive cuz of the risks involved in surviving outdoors. Indoor cats rarely have issues. I have had cats all my life and this is the first one with issues at a young age. My last cat went 14 years problem free till age related issues hit her and took her down (UTI and fluid in lungs).

Why can't a turd identify as straight? There are no wrong answers here

Outdoor cats are usually free. Just go to the grocery store and ask around. Very rarely do outdoor cats around here have vet bills. They are either fine or become food... New ones are available at the local grocery store...

Dont get me wrong I dont mind cats. They just have to be mainly outdoor cats. Not doing the litter box thing again.
