Curious.

I'm always keen on learning this stuff.

As in pack/fill the cavity with dressing? Over and over, as you say.

Wouldn't that leave a tunnel/cave when it's healed?

Cool

How did they fix up his leg? Let's see a current pic of how it's healing up.

Yes, clean dressing or foam, sometimes under slight suction.

Sometimes, not always, usually a dent.
It's healing by granulation.
You stitch it, even in layers, it will heal all fucked up and most likely get infection from trapped shit.

That's gonna take a LONG time. It took nearly 3 months to heal my burns that only went about 1/4" deep.

Cleanliness is #1 in importance.

Alaskan police officer uses wrong bullet in brown bear ‘hazing’ incident

Campers in Southeast Alaska honked car horns, shouted and used other noises in an attempt to scare away a troublesome brown bear but nothing worked.

So officials were called to the scene at Dyea Campground in Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park to conduct a hazing procedure, according to Alaska Dispatch News and National Parks Traveler.

“Bear ‘hazing’ attempts to create a negative experience for a bear that seeks out human food sources or loses its natural avoidance of humans and developed areas,” a park press release issued Monday said.

“Standard ‘hazing’ practice involves a shotgun loaded with non-lethal rubber slugs or a combination of rubber rounds and noise-deterrent rounds in sequence to deliver the greatest scare effect when chasing bears from developed areas such as a campground.”

But when a Skagway police officer went to shoot the brown bear Saturday evening, he inadvertently loaded and fired a lethal slug instead of a rubber round.

After being shot, the brown bear ran from the campground and swam across the Taiya River toward an island near the west bank. It was last seen entering the river downstream of the island as it became dark.

“Subsequent search efforts along the river bank have indicated no further sign of the injured bear,” the park service said, “but authorities have not been able to verify that the bear has died from its wounds.”

According to the Juneau Empire, authorities believe the brown bear is the same one that has been seen roaming around Dyea Campground since early summer.

“The National Park Service and Skagway Police Department regret this unfortunate outcome for the bear and the increased risk to public safety,” the park service said. “The two agencies have reviewed the incident and the officer actions and are working collaboratively to review bear management policies and training strategies to ensure that response personnel are well trained and working together to protect park wildlife and the visiting public.”

Should have followed up the shot and made a rug. Bears like that wind up dead sooner rather than later anyways.

Yep. When I read, "troublesome bear", I translate that to "an accident waiting to happen". Nothing a good .45-70 hardcast wouldn't fix.

Brown Bear Lives Matter!

Evict the humans and let the bears roam. Isn't that the simplest solution with zero casualties?

Oh wait, humans can't resist a national park and must have a zero-risk experience.

Bleh.

Bear had a negative experience with human interaction, so I'd say mission accomplished...
