@usmcdoc14 so, how do I fit a pair of these in the headlight housings on my 6.0? Will I need a second battery?

Of course he's a diesel mechanic, so his reasons may be a bit different than yours.

Untill something is solid enought to not split, wedges, turns and lifts the truck, and it jumps 4' forwards and to the ground.....and so on.

I wonder if there is a disclaimer about posi/lockers and poosible fender damage?

In 191970, there was no such thing as disclaimers.

People didn't sue for their fuckups then.

Of course, a broken leg didn't cost $30K to fix, neither.

I wonder if it would work if attached to the auger on my Bobcat? That would be sweet.

A simple "yeah, that would work" would have sufficed.

Huh. If there's that much interest, I oughta go out in the yard and see if I can find it. We could have an auction for the "spiral of death!"

what are you, stupid?
The other wheel should be blocked already, because it's going to want to turn while in use.
Even if you set the idle high, it still isn't going to have the power to pull itself over the blocks, much less flop itself around with a log.

Maybe I'm just used to working with machines that with a moment's inattention will turn you into paste and not even slow down, but the 'dangers' of that thing seem pretty obvious at first glance and easily prepared for.

That IS when it gets exciting. Yes, you block the other whell. When the "spiral of death" grabs aold of a knarly knot is when it happens: The vehicle the screw is monted on jumps off the log you wedged the other wheel with, just as the log your splitting becomes a kludgel of death!

Brings back some fond (but scary) memories.

Right up until someone mounts it up to the axle of a diesel truck, like Screwy's IDI. Even at high idle, that thing is producing plenty enough torque to drive over wheelchocks, even with the 3.55's.

doubt it has a large enough center hole to fit over the hub, much less bolt up

but yeah I was going to say it could happen with something with a governed idle and manual trans, but that would confuse most idiots who don't know what a governed idle is
