1976 IH Scout II diesel

Here is my first Scout, I was lucky to find one from ol' Seattle WA. with minimal rust and a lot of goodies already done for me. I do have to make a few adjustments and re-work some things but over all I am happy.

So do what most of you rust free coaters do, cut the floor out of it and leave perfectly intact skins on what ultimately ends up being a tube buggy of sorts.

I'm cutting out all my floors and replacing with 14/16ga HR steel. Cutting out the rockers and some of the quarter panels and welding in 2x6 3/16 wall square tube in for rockers and rear corners. Full cage and soft top.

If anybody wants a decent hard top, I'd be up for selling it down the road. It just needs cleaned up, sanded down and repainted. has all the glass.

Took it for a final drive before tear down. I've got some issues in the engine to work out after/while I fix the floors. It seems to run well but it smokes. The radiator had very little antifreeze in it when I got it. It doesn't leak so I don't know what that's about unless I've got a head gasket issue that the PO didn't warn me about. It seems to run well other than the smoking issue.

Definitely got some work ahead of me though. Looks way better with the top off.

PO Patch job. Getting cut out as well.
