Well, a cage isn't critical for the con if you have a hard top. I definitely understand the time issue though.

I'm 95% sure I'll be making the trip and I'll also be visiting relatives in Sac. I could pick you up at any of the airports along my route. Denver, Salt Lake, Reno, or Sac.

Reno or Sacto are the closest...

Us Bay Area folks could get you in SJ or Oakland...

What movie stuff have you been working on?

I teach in the Film Dept here.

I would like to go but dont think I can spend the whole week. is there a particular weekend that was picked out? or was I just not paying attention?

Also, Rockscout probably wont be ready by then so I'd have to bring my own rig. 63 scout 80, spring over, tightened up powerlocks front and rear(27f 4.27, disc brakes;44r,4.27), decent roll bar, t18 wide, spicer 18, 32" swampers. Will that be cool or should I stay home? I know i wont be able to run through the sluice's but the rest of the trail should be ok right?

Unless something has changes.... the dates being kicked around for the trail run is Sept. 16, 17 & 18. Can't comment on the rig's worthiness... never been there myself.

you have no choice with one of the sluices, and the middle or old one isn't that bad. You'll be fine..

Just put a stock jeep flatfender over that axle instead of a haevy scout and you should be fine.

Get RockScout in shape. Or just plan on going real easy and make sure you have planty of spares.

Of those that are planning on showing up, does anyone run a 2m or 70cm radio? If so, what freq. are you planning being on? I know there is a 2m repeater on both sides of the 'Con, but those aren't really intended for general chatting. I'll also have a CB as well.... what's the "official" channel?

That's my plan as well. I plan to arrive in the Tahoe area the evening of the 14th. I'll hang out there that night and thursday and plan to drive the Scout around to Loon friday morning.

That sucks Kevin. I KNOW you guys would have way more fun with us.

Probably better that we run in smaller groups anyhow. Still though... No chance Sean can come home a day earlier?

Dan and I talked last and decided we going to get Rock Scout ready and haul it down for the trip. We had discussed going back to Moab in October, but the time commitment was looking like too much for me, so it looks like the Rubicon is going to be a go! Personally I have been wanting to run the trail for quite a while. We'll get the new rear springs in and both the driveshaft and the pinion yoke fixed. Now I have to review the thread and digest all the info I have been ignoring because I didn't think I was going. See you all in September!

Cool. You'll have a great time on the 'Con and you'll have a lot more fun in a capable rig.

Thats because it was all of ours first trips through the con, we only made one wrong turn took us about an hour and a half cause of a brake the way back though,

and No josh, i wish it was that easy but hes gonna be in asia or some crap like that so i dont think he can come back a day early, unfortunatly

last year was still a fun trip but, this year we decided to just park the trailers at loon and drive 3/4 the way through and turn around. the road from southlake to sac. was harder on our trucks than the con was, Seans truck litterally shook appart at 1 in the morning, and my powersteering took a crap.

next year my buggy will for sure be done and Seans truck will be 4 linked front and rear with coilovers so well try and make it with the big group
