ScoutII steering box questions

I am looking at using a scoutII box on a project and had a few questions.
From reading it looks like using a waggy pitman arm is common. I will be using a Chevy D60 front axle with highsteer. Just looking for combos that work as far as pitmans and arms.

Hydro Steer: I have come across two ways of porting the box. One is drilling into the passeges the other the two caps or a replacement front cap. Any opinions on what way is better and why? Would a part like this fit?

Any comon weaknesses to a scout box or gripes? Should I skip it and find something else? I would go full hydro but just trying to save cash where I can.

Andy

A stock waggy arm doesn't drop as far as a scout arm does so it gets real close to the frame on a scout. A drop pitman arm for a scout will be about the same length as the waggy arm but with more drop than the scout.

You will want to gusset the frame where the box mounts, these boxes have a tedency to rip frames up. Also, its a little tough to find ps hoses that fit it. was for me anyway.

That's why I just drive down to The Parker Store. Not much more money, and it's one stop shopping

I would tap into the passages. I'v heard that the caps are too thin to reliably drill and weld to.

I wonder if a stock XJ arm would be the ticket then. They have more drop to them.
