Just finished battening up the hatch on my winch fix with a new motor....I finally fixed it for two reasons...

1. It might get sloppy this weekend.
2. Binder made me do it.

Actually when I first fired up the thing it gave a little puff of smoke as it was running...Then the smoke didn't come back...SSsoooooo I am going to "ass"ume that it was just smoking because it was new.....

The thing is scary fast again...Also the good thing is that the brake still works

As for being there on Friday...The LADY is trying to leave at 2:00pm from work. That puts me there at a best time of 5:00pm, which really dictates to 6:00 to 6:30pm. So it is safe to say that I won't be Friday wheeling. We will be there to cook some dinner and drink some beverages and tell some lies though.

Off to bed I go...I have another long afternoon of housework and light wrenching tomorrow evening...

Update, cause I'm bored now that its too late to work on the rig tonight (kids room right above.... not conducive to noisy activities )

First test run is a success. Running like a champ. Got it filled up with water, tossed in some stop-leak and seems to be holding. Still a gutless wonder, but seems to be pretty happy. Does start ticking if you hold it at 4K for a couple minutes .... might be a little low on oil.

Got to replace the drag link... apparently junk-yard parts with no grease zerks wear out quick , tons of slop. So I dug out the DOM unit I forgot I bought a LONG time ago and never used. That should hold. In playing with the steering I noticed the front axle shifting back and forth as well . Turned out the front u-bolts were surprisingly loose... All good now. Glad I found that.

Got the front clip on. Mounted hinges and screwed the fenders to the body.... no more clankity-clank (I hope). Need to make some hold downs to keep it closed, mount a couple lights... maybe even give it a bath.

I think I'm pretty close to ready!

Flight's booked. I fly in Thursday at 11:30 p.m. (local). I have a test Thurs. so that's the best I could do. Where do I need to go and do I need to make another reservation there?

Any word on campfire restrictions?

If we can burn -- I'll toss a good pile of fire wood on the trailer.

Are you going to need a ride from the airport area? I'm picking up two others from a hotel near the airport..

I hope another cardboard box showed up, or else that smart ass from KC will really be laughing at me at the campsite standing there with just a sleeping bag

What was the decision on this? I need to make up a grocery list........I did pick up a large BBQ- camp grill to cook on.

I'm bring Hamburgers and fix'ns for Friday Night group dinner. Then fending for myself the rest.

Actually Chi and Mech asked me to provide basic food stuffs for them as well so I'll obliged to that. If you wanted to double up on that it wouldn't hurt.

I'm thinking simple meals.
Burgers Friday night
Eggs/bacon or Instant Oatmeal breakfast(s)
Pre-Cooked (and probably cold) fried chicken for lunch(s).
Steak for Saturday Dinner (maybe)
And either more chicken or some sort of sandwich for Sunday Lunch.

I need to get more creative with my camp-site cooking.... maybe if I did it more than once a year

No problem. I think if Rick brings extra food (which Mrs Binder usually overpacks), I'll bring extra food, we'll have you out-of-towners hooked up.

*I* would stop by the Safeway on the way out and have you guys pick up and snacks/specialty foods you guys want (and liquid refreshment!), and have the basics taken care of.

I should call Rick tonight and coordinate.

Sounds good to me.....I'll bring extra food and what doesn't get used I'll take home, nothing will go to waste.
