Project: I'm not cool. MJ Comanche with some goodies

1991 Comanche 4.0/AW4/231, D30/D44 4.56's, ARB & Warn hubs up front, spool in the rear. RAD shifter, winch, Flatbed, other misc small stuff.

Bought the Jeep off of another member on NAXJA, it has been around the Northwest chapter for years and passed between members. I was on a short tour in Korea when it went up for sale, so I flew my parents up to Oregon to buy it. I don't like buying built rigs usually but this was a good deal, I'm happy with it. It needs a lot of work and upgrades but the PO did some decent body work on it, I'm going to hurt when I eventually mess it up.

The day it arrived back at my parents house.

The Comanche in the snow.

Pulled in the garage to start minor improvements.

The detached shop is where I work, the attached is for pretty vehicles.

Modifying the bumper, still haven't made frame tie-in plates.

Cut the wood and mounted a piece of 1/8" flat stock to give it strength.

Mounted up and done.

I like it, but it doesn't get much use in the frozen wasteland that is North Dakota...

Found some Won-Tons...

2005 Dana Super 60 front...pulled from a junkyard for really cheap. I suspected damage inside because the yoke didn't turn and it was missing an ear.

This is what it looked like when I pulled the cover:

Spiders are jammed against the carrier and ring gear. Shafts look fine so far...

This snap ring is the devil's work and I had to groove the tips on my snap ring pliers to get them out.

The rear is an E350 D60 drum brake version that I'll be putting Chevy brakes on...the insides of it look good so far.

Sorry, I forgot about this thread and didnít have notifications turned on. It is currently on jack stands still. Been collecting parts and Iím going to start building again next week when everything gets here.

Wife bought me some 42Ē SXIIís, did a +2Ē spring perch in the rear for the time being, changed the rear to a 35 spline with chromoís. Front is getting a Detroit and 5.38s as well, but I have already started building the 3 Link front and Iím waiting on my coilovers to get here.

Forgot, thanks to advice from Ashman, I shaved the front 60. Hopefully photobucket works.

I like them, he likes them...good deal.

Rear axle tacked up with the Ruffstuff +2” perches.

Bought new Timken hubs that I plan to redrill to 8x6.5 with this drill guide, hopefully I don’t dick up a perfectly good hub.

Love the build!! Can't wait to see it with tons! I really need to shave my 60 for the hell of it............

P.S.....you might have some steering clearance issues with that cover if it isn't superduty specific but then again it depends on what kind of high steer you run............

I know everyone on here hates Ballistic fab, but I have to say the three times Iíve ordered from them this year I havenít had an issue. Ordered some shock towers from them last wednesday and received them yesterday. That being said...my parts are starting to arrive...got these today.

Gears, lockers, chromo shafts should be here tomorrow.

Spent time in the garage today. Built the cross member, just tacked together for now while I try to figure out my axle side mounts and coilover locations. Iím having the same issues everyone else has with managing the draglink, panhard and shock placement. Upper link on the body side is going to be vertical due to the exhaust and frame rail. Had to cut the floor to clear the mount. Also, cut out the inner fenders today for the coilover tower and tire clearance.
