Next step of the Rock Frog

Well I tore apart my perfectly fine CJ-7 that I was running some of the hardest trails in the country(Johnson Valley) apart to make it better

http://community.webshots.com/photo/...04586966Jirocc

This was a few weeks ago and now I have it stripped completely down. Plans include....Full tube frame, HO 5.0, Wishbone 3-link front, Fox air shocks front and rear, and hopefully a custom crawler box, Also a narrowed grill and hood. I have already narrowed a spare grill I had, I'm looking for a straight hood. I also have the 5.0...from a '91 mustang I will update as major progress is made

Looks like it was doing pretty good before you tore it apart.

Yeah it was doing pretty good before I tore it down....but I was denied on a climb that I wanna be able to make so...Well all I have now is a front and rear axle I have links for the rear already, next step is to build link mounts on the front axle. The links will be the same size as the rear so I can carry one spare. I also need to get my new drivetrain put together before I start bending tube.

I have some more pics. I've almost got the link brackets done on the front axle, I have the lower links built. Here is a pic of my new engine http://community.webshots.com/photo/...13049727uXowBh

I'll have some more pics of the sheet metal I'll be using shortly. I'm pretty much ready to start bending tube, although I still don't have my drivetrain bolted together.

Started on the frame today.....You haven't lived untill you try wrestling a 20' stick of tubing into a bender by your self Luckily there was only one piece that needed to be that long Started on the winch mount...tomarrow I should finish that up and get the grill mounted. Feels good to start putting it back together! I"ll add pics when there is something more to look at.

Thanks for putting those pictures up Braxton....I think I can do it because webshots is hosting them, but I don't know how. I tore the whole thing apart in only 2 days! Ya, it's going slow, but I have also have a job so somedays I don't even work on it. What you see in the latest pic is about 2 days of work. I'll get some more tubing bent today. So should I leave the grill hoop the way it is?

its definately good work but i think it would look better if you used a tighter radius and more followed the line of the narrowed grille. but JMO, WTF do I know?

The grill hoop is starting to grow on me...It's gonna stay. It is still narrower than a stock grill I would use a tighter radius, but I would have to buy another die for the bender. I started on the cowl section today, it was harder than I thought and I'm still working on it.
