Firewall top coated with matte black duplicolor engine paint. LS in its new home! The tranny mount is bolted into the original spot, and the intake and heads of the LS are VERY close to the firewall. It looks like I have plenty of clearance to the radiator, so Iíll likely be moving the whole assembly 1Ē forward. Iíll also try and raise the motor some to get better oil pan clearance, rear driveline angle, and fan-to-radiator clearance.

Belly pan modified to move the drive train 1Ē forward to clear the firewall. The welding tweaked the pan like a potato chip, so I stress relieved it with a ball peen and a needle scaler. I ended up using the floor jack and a 2x4 to bend it back into shape. It got a quick coat of paint. Will install once dry.

Time to start reinstalling things. The gas tank is in, the battery box is in and the brake booster is in. I ran -6 AN hose from the tank to the fuel rail and back. I installed the filter just before the fuel rail so it would be vertical.

Worked on some body mount repair/strengthening, put my fenders on, started laying out the wiring and my intake parts. My engine girdle and mount stuff has been cut out. Just waiting for it to ship to my house.

Fuse block is finally done. Now to loom it and mount the ECM, TAC box, fuse block and power bus somewhere. I used to have relays dangling everywhere off my firewall. Now they are all organized into this little fuse block.

Now on to some fab stuff! I sent DXFs to my plasma cut guy and he sent me the first cut of the engine girdle. Looks like the bent pieces has some issues, but the rest of the pieces went together very well. The self jigging all worked flawless so far. Iíve only got one side motor mount tach welded right now. I reordered a second rev of the bent piece that should bend much cleaner.

Harness work continued. The harness is loomed. The engine part of it is plugged in and complete. I still have to punch wires through the firewall, hook up the DBW gas pedal, run the fuel pump wire and mount up the fuse block and power bus.

Speaking of fuse block and power bus, Iím using the original LS battery cable for the driver side power source. Iím incorporating a 200A breaker as well. I think Iím going to fab up a cover to fit over the computer and TAC box and mount the fuse and power blocks.

Great work! This is really chugging along. I like the relay and fuse block - did you do that yourself or was it a kit? I've looked at doing the same to replace the 20 year old unit.

This is turning out super clean

Thanks! I did the fuse block stuff myself. I bought the fuse block with a large assortment of those GM weatherpack connectors in a kit from amazon.

Iím going as fast as my wife will let me. Haha.

Iíve been able to flatten out glossy paint by wiping it with brake cleaner soaked rag.

OR,

itíll all look the same once it gets dirty.

Love what you've got going on. Thanks for the link for the fuse panel. I've been looking for something like that.

Why all the nice wiring, and using these instead of heat shrink connectors?

Valid question, haha. These are temporary until I get that sheet metal cover I showed a few posts ago made.
