Love that 3/4 view with the mountains/ desert.

Random: what's the wheelbase on this now?

I spent a lot of time on that wheel well. Thanks for noticing. I love the look of a tight fitting wheel well.

I love the pitbulls so far. Great on the road. Good grip in hard corners and acceleration. They feel softer than other tires offroad at road pressure. I have yet to crawl with them or even air them down though. Only grump is they are heavy as hell, but the LQ9 doesnít even notice them, just my back.

Haha i donít know if you follow my thread, but holy fukkkkkk!
I ran about ten miles of this years race course then hit chocolate thunder. My god. After I broke a forged yoke, bent a axle ubolt, spit out caps, tossed a rear driveline, I broke a front stub shaft. All in about 12 minutes. I didnít ďfeelĒ I was going too hard. Chocolate thunder won and I want redemption. We should make a plan and go together. I took me about 3.5 hours to winch out alone not hitting that on a Thursday again without help

Still neck deep in backyard chores, and now the wife wants to by one of those huge pavilions from Costco. Bye bye free time. One thing I still have is my drive to and from work in the jeep, so I started doing pretty much the only thing I can...

I started the tuning process to really dial in my VE tables and MAF. I did a lot of research and itís not that different than tuning TBI stuff, so it should be easy. I created a data logging tune that eliminates anything that can cause the tune to go open loop, and shut off my MAF. With the system running solely speed density, and can datalog and tweak my VE tables easily. So far, Iíve done two solid logs and tweaked the VE. I was apparently quite off, so itís a good thing Iím doing this.

I also managed to get farther on my air box. Almost done with that chore. In the meantime, my heater hoses are just looped together to bypass the missing heater core, and my motor hasnít had any cooling issues like some say will happen.

Umkay. Been building fences and a pavilion in the backyard, so I havenít done much. I did get my heater box back and hooked up my heater hoses to my new heater core. All seems fine, no leaks. I also finished my VE table (see below) and am now tuning my MAF.

I have a wideband and AFR gauge in the jeep, so Iíve done some research and found I can feed the WB signal through the EGR pintle position sensor and log the data. This will give me superior data for tuning my MAF and PE circuit.

Got the wideband data into the ECM. I restarted tuning based on the wideband only, and, though my narrow band tuning was pretty close, the wideband is more accurate especially at the hard to reach old cells.

Here is my latest CAD endeavor. A setup to use the 750mL Jack bottle as a coolant catch. What do you guys think? Uses pop-in rubber bumpers at the base. And a large grommet at the top to keep the bottle safe from shock.

Iím done tuning my VE and MAF. The motor is happy as a clam in its new home. I love the smooth and enormous power!

Original VE and MAF tables:

I also made a revision to the JD coolant catch. The original mounted to the CJ radiator using the existing bolt holes in the rad, but it sat pretty low. This new rev raises the unit 2Ē higher and puts it in a great spot to be seen and accessed.

You could also mount it anywhere else using the slotted holes.

I've been replacing the oil pump on the LQ9. Kinda suck doing it in the vehicle, but that's how it goes. I was seeing lower oil pressures when the engine was cold, so I wanted to swap this out sooner than later.

I didn't see any golden flakes or pixie dust in the oil when I drained it, so that's good! Oil was about 1500 miles old. I did see several small bits of blue shop towel. Haha, oops

The offending oil pump.

I really like how the used oil sets off the pattern of the paper towel. Itís all in the little details folks. Haha.

Had the oil pump in and everything sealed up on Monday (currently Saturday), but several of my z06 manifold studs stripped out when removing my cross pipe. I was able to remove all but 1 stripped stud. That one required a lot of drilling. Not just any drilling though, my regular drill bits couldnít handle it because the stud is stainless, so I bought the hard metal Milwaukee bits from Home Depot. Those did the trick, but it took me hours to step drill it out. In the end, good prevailed.

I also wrapped the cross pipe. That should keep the forest fires down and maybe my oil temps too.

I had time to idle the motor and bring it up to full temp. My oil pressure has doubled. Itís not 45 psi cold and 40 hot. It was worth all the trouble after all.

I made 10 of these. Thinking about selling them for $55 plus shipping for the first batch.

The 2 formed pieces are made from 1/8Ē stainless steel, so they donít have to be painted. Also all the hardware is either stainless, plastic, rubber or brass, so the hardware will last too.

It can be mounted many different ways with the flexible slots, but the mounting holes are designed to fit the CJ radiator mounting bolt holes.

i did a very similar thing but much less engineered with a corona bottle and two rubber coated band style clamps.
I had originally wanted to use one of the tin cup whiskey bottles, but side note my good buddy that works for the local county PD insists this still counts as an open container

I guess I should ask a police officer about this. Iím putting fender liners back in probably within the week, so theyíd have to look under the hood to see it... thanks for bringing that to my attention.
