Steering box input shaft question

Looking at using Herm's steering box upgrade for my 67 CJ5/V6. Herm recommends using the Ford reverse rotation steering gear from 80-97. Every one I looked up has an 3/4" input shaft with a spline count of 29 with a flat. Is this the same as the very common 3/4" steering U Joint with a spline count of 36 by not counting the splines on the flat?

I believe it is. I have a few steering yokes and joints at home I can check. But I believe you are correct. You can count half of the splines on the shaft with the flat and double that number and compare to known spline and diameter options. I think that's what I did while ordering.

Yes. 3/4-36 is what you want.
